Both teams aren't playing their best right now.
That loss last week hurts

Wow. That’s huge. Tough break for Seattle. The tables are turned this time (Staley was probably still hurt last time).

Did Lynch officially retire or is still a FA?

I would never count him out, but it's hard to believe that Lynch has that much left in the tank at this point. He's 33, with over 2,700 hard NFL touches over his career. He also doesn't strike me as the type who would have kept himself in peak condition in retirement, though he has returned from a year hiatus and played effectively before. We'll see. Regardless, the Hawks' D is stumbling and their offense has lost some absolutely crucial pieces. This game is ours to win, and we need to do it.

I'm trying to tell myself that, but seahawks have some kind of horrible black magic that they activate against us every year

Yeah. we've felt snakebit at times, and I'm not taking anything for granted. We can't assume we'll win. They'll play hard, and we haven't exactly been killing it lately. There's still a good chance we lose, but we SHOULD win, and we absolutely need to. Difference between the one and five seed is huge.

Seahawks have every incentive to throw everything they have at the 49ers, because a WC would have a difficult road, especially with the injuries they have.

Lynch may be able to play like he thinks he could for his first game. Hope the young 49ers LBs are ready for that.

I'd be more worried about the defense letting Wilson get outside off boot actions like the way they let Goff get outside. Wilson could get easy 10-15 yard runs at a minimum if they don't contain him.

Steve Smith said on NFL Network that the 49ers LBs don't know how to play zone and that Jimmy was holding the ball too long when guys were getting open. I thought the Rams were playing a lot of man defense and Ramsey was dominating Sanders at least in the first 3 quarters or so.

Noisy stadium with two very inexperienced players on the OL. The new center was snapping high and low early in the Rams game.

I was loudly advocating spying Wilson last time we played them, and I think it's all the more important in this meeting. They are limited for pass catchers, and their ground game shouldn't be all that scary. Let our pass rushers rush, and keep a LB on Wilson if he gets out of the pocket. It's not an approach I like, but I do think it makes sense against the Hawks.

49ers unable to rotate their DL as much as they would like o because of injuries.

More snaps for the starters and higher percentage of snaps.

Bosa wasn’t a full time DE at OSU. He rotated in, probably because the program was loaded.

For any other team going up against this desperate Seachickens team you’ll feel confident it’s a W... but like many have said on here Seattle has some black magic against us. Smh. Especially in Century Link field. I forgot how it even felt last time we won up there... that’s how damn long it’s been

Ugh. Any connection to the injury that knocked him out a few games?

I'm curious about Kevin Givens. He's undersized, but he showed some real flashes during the preseason. Is it worth giving him a shot?

Taylor tore his ACL. Givens is coming up. I can't believe how many hits this DL has taken this year

Horrible news.

I thought the CBA limited practice time. And at this time of the year, what were they doing that a guy tears his ACL?

Too bad, the prognosticators thought the DL would be such an area of advantage for the 49ers not just because they had all those first-round draftees but the depth of the DL, to rotate players in all the time.

I know it's preseason, but I'm hoping that playing next to our top linemen benefits him enough to transfer this to the regular season. His speed off the snap and leverage isn't bad.

We are signing Earl Mitchell, I guess we were not happy with what Givens/Street have done.

Return to San Francisco 49ers
