York isn't going anywhere since owning an NFL team is easy money and while I'm sure he hates being blasted by fans and the media the big pile of money helps ease the pain.
I actually have always believed that York does want to win and wants to be considered a great owner like his Uncle but he's just incompetent at doing it.
I disagree that he WANTS to win. Nothing that he's demonstrated to date shows that he WANTS to win. I think if we win by accident, he feels like, "GREAT! I've accomplished something!" But when we lose, especially the way we've been losing with the exception of the Harbaugh years, he's completely aloof and unaccountable (his dad was the same way). We're $50M under the cap (read $50M he doesn't have to spend, and therefore pockets), and we don't have a legitimate starter on offense with the possible exception of Staley (who's nearing the end of the road) and Hyde (who apparently can't stay healthy for more than about a third of the season).
If winning were a priority, Baalke never would have been hired, and he CERTAINLY wouldn't have been retained instead of Harbaugh (at this level, GM's are a dime a dozen. Winning HC's are not). If winning were a priority, legitimate HC searches would have been conducted instead of giving the team to first Singletary, and then Tomsula. If winning were a priority, Jed has had YEARS to recognize that he's incapable of doing his job and hired somebody to run the football operations who knew what the hell he was doing. If winning were a priority, we wouldn't be watching the QB competition equivalent of Dumb and Dumber (that's not a commentary on actual intelligence, just so there's no misunderstanding, but a metaphor for how they play). If winning were a priority I don't believe we'd be witnessing the exodus of players and coaches over the last two years that we've seen, and I don't believe we'd be replacing them with literally the only option who would say yes.
I'm sorry if that reads somewhat harsh, as that's not my intent, but I vehemently disagree that Jed a) cares about winning, and b) is just incompetent. He undoubtedly is incompetent (worst owner in professional sports in my opinion, and arguably the worst owner in professional sports of all time; yes, I know he's not THE owner, but he's the face of ownership, and the only reason he has his job is because of nepotism), but I don't think "caring about winning" is mutually exclusive from "being incompetent." I think if mommy wasn't his boss he would have gotten fired LONG before Harbaugh was allowed to walk out the door.
