According to Draft Analyst's Tony Pauline, some around the league believe that if the Texans acquire Tony Romo they would then trade Tom Savage to the 49ers.

This is pure speculation from people Pauline has spoken with, but it's an interesting nugget. If Romo lands in Houston, the Texans would then be forced to keep Brock Osweiler as the No. 2 due to a glut of guaranteed money left on his deal. Savage likely would be upset as the No. 3 and could ask for a way out of town. ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reported back in January 2015 that then-Browns OC Kyle Shanahan was extremely high on Savage and wanted him in Cleveland.

Coincidentally, the 49ers scouted Savage heavily and many thought they (Baalke/company) really liked him when he came out as well. As I was then, I'd be a no thanks but this wouldn't shock me as one of the more believable scenarios.

Kirk Cousins - QB - Redskins

NFL Network's Mike Silver said it was his belief Redskins franchise player Kirk Cousins wants "no part" of Washington, and would like to be in San Francisco.

As the sides fail to make anything resembling progress in long-term talks, the Cousins/49ers rumors refuse to die. Not even San Francisco's Wednesday signing of Brian Hoyer has slowed the talk. The well seems poisoned enough to no longer be drinkable for Cousins in the nation's capital. 2017 is threatening to go off the rails for recently-extended coach Jay Gruden.

Jason La Canfora:

Would Cousins be open to a trade and welcome it? Yes. Is he demanding a trade? No. Would he play there $24M in 17 if need be? Absolutely ...

Will Cousins sign that franchise tag and lock in that salary? Without a doubt, and soon at that. Is SF the only team that likes him? Nope..

49ers indicated strongly to Hoyer he's the guy for 17 and no trade for Cousins this year. Words are cheap but they recruited him as starter

Ya know I love this addition to our squad. I was high o him as a prospect. The dude can ball at a high level if given that opportunity and weapons to work with.

2013 was an awful draft for QBs, but I was all about taking Jeff Tuel or Matt Barkley in the mid to late rounds.

Kirk Cousins - QB - Redskins

The Washington Post considers "just before the draft" the most likely time for a Kirk Cousins trade.

Reporter Mike Jones was quick to add there's "no indication" the Redskins have grown more amenable to a move. Jones correctly identifies the best trade window, as that's when Washington's leverage with other teams will be highest. It will decrease dramatically following the league's three days in Philadelphia. At this point, de facto GM Bruce Allen seems intent on holding onto Cousins no matter how much the would-be franchise quarterback resents him.

I think there could be a prime window after the draft depending on if the Redskins land a QB or not. If they draft a QB they like they might be inclined to get whatever they can for Cousins and save the money and headache while getting more than they would've if they let him walk as a FA.

Mitchell Trubisky - QB - Tar Heels

San Francisco 49ers GM John Lynch believes this year's quarterback crop is getting a bad rap.

"As I started to study these guys, I thought they were getting a bad rap," Lynch said. "They each have reasons why maybe people think they shouldn't go (No.) 2. In Trubisky's case, he's only started 13 games, but you turn on the tape with each of them, and they have redeeming qualities that make you say, 'Wow, this guy would be a part of it,' so we're evaluating them and we'll continue to do so." The 49ers hold the No. 2 overall pick and are, of course, desperate for quarterback help. Most believe they'll wait to get it. Lynch is a known fan of Kizer's. "One of the first things Kyle and I talked about (is) you've got to have a franchise quarterback. We know that, we're in search of it, and we're looking at every avenue to try and get that," Lynch added.
