banking on this rumor to be completely an opinion and no sources to back it up.....

This is the guy that wouldn't stfu about Foster having a bum shoulder and insisting he would miss time.

So they are gonna trade Bowman and start who at LB?

Moronic. Lombardi needs to go away.

Not sure where Lombardi pulled this one from because I can't see much reason for them to trade Bowman right now.

He has basically 0 trade value right now and you just drafted a guy in Foster that has maturity issues and Bowman at least to me anyways would be the perfect vet to keep Foster in line and be an example for him.

Also Bowman is one of the leaders of the team and one of the very few leaders on a defense with a lot of young guys.

Yes you want to retool and purge your roster when you take over but you don't want a roster that's completely barren of vets and long time players of the team because the young guys need some of those old guys around to show them how to be pros.

DT D.J. Jones. The 49ers’ first sixth-round pick was the heaviest player on the field. Near end of practice, which lasted only 90 minutes, Jones removed himself from the action and walked toward the sideline slowly with his hands on his hips and his mouth wide open, trying hard not to vomit

Not to worried about him since he would be an early down rotational player anyways. Of course, he still needs to get in shape but he's not going to be an iron man out there either.

Navorro Bowman - LB - 49ers

The Ringer's Mike Lombardi reports the 49ers have "made it known" ILB Navorro Bowman is available for trade.

He may be "available," but no team is going to trade for Bowman's contract. He signed a seven-year, $77 million deal last August and promptly tore his Achilles' in October. The 49ers have let it be known that Bowman is on track in his recovery, but he's suffered two major leg injuries in three years. Bowman turns 29 this month, and San Fran is switching to a 4-3 front.

Navorro Bowman - LB - 49ers

In a joint statement, 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan and GM John Lynch have vehemently denied they're shopping ILB Navorro Bowman.

The duo labeled Mike Lombardi's report "completely false," and called Bowman a "consummate professional." The new guys are clearly sensitive to anything that might upset a team leader in Bowman. Even were the 49ers attempting to trade Bowman, they'd have zero takers on a soon-to-be 29 year old who is coming off a torn Achilles' after completely shredding his knee in early 2014. Bowman is also due $7.5 million in salary and bonuses this year.

Yeah, those are my thoughts. He will be the backup for a position that is only on the field maybe 35% of the time, anyway. It's obviously not great that he's out of shape, but it's not all that unusual for rookie DL. Much better reading that than, say, when AJ Jenkins was having trouble keeping up through the rookie camp.

I also think Grant Cohn sees what he wants to see, a lot. He raked Witherspoon over the coals for getting beaten by Taylor. You don't bring in a guy like Witherspoon to cover a guy like Taylor. Even though Witherspoon has quite good change-of-direction skills for a guy who is 6'2"+, any guy in that range will struggle to cover a shifty 5'8" guy. Even Sherman struggles to do that.

There was a LOT of "blah, blah, blah" when I watched him in school. When he's free and in the clear and he knows what he's seeing, he shoots to the ball. But he also gets blocked easily...a lot.

Trying to fill our quota of players whose first names end in -edric, looks like.

Can't read too much into that. Breida is a smaller, extremely fast guy. A rookie camp, in shells, without folks really knowing the roster, is likely to emphasize a guy like Breida's strengths. Let's see how things shape up once the pads go on. That said, there's definitely a spot on the roster for a smaller, shifty guy who can catch the ball out of the backfield and break one long at any time.

49ers made a few jersey number changes as they open OTAs to media on Tuesday. Rookie DL Solomon Thomas is now No. 94 after starting with No. 96. DT D.J. Jones now wearing No. 96. OLB Dekoda Watson is wearing No. 97. CB Rashard Robinson switches from 26 back to 33 after an earlier change and RB Kapri Bibbs is now 26. Rookie RB Joe Williams is No. 32.

The fan in me struggles to see certain numbers being worn by other players but I know you can't permanently retire that many numbers. Seeing someone else in 97 and 94 irrationally hurts just a bit, though.

49ers coach Kyle Shanahan said plan for LB Reuben Foster for now is to allow him to participate in anything that doesn't have the potential for contact. He's still recovering from shoulder procedure but the hope is he will be ready for training camp. Foster is working at weakside linebacker right now, according to Shanahan.
