Nick Chubb - RB - Bulldogs

Georgia senior RB Nick Chubb believes he can be a top-10 pick.

"(Leonard) Fournette and (Christian) McCaffrey went top 10. That's just amazing to me, knowing that if I do have a great season, or any other running back has a great season, we can get up there in the top 10," Chubb said. For now, Chubb acknowledges that he's been passed by Penn State's Saquon Barkley and LSU's Derrius Guice on the NFL's wish list. "I've been in that position where I was considered one of the top backs, and it's hard to stay consistent," he said. Last season, Chubb had a nice return from his devastating knee injury -- rushing for 1,130 yards on 5.0 ypc -- but he didn't look like the same runner that punished the SEC for 1,547 yards on 7.1 ypc as a freshman in 2014. Two years removed from the injury, we fully expect to see fireworks again.

He's a good back, and an elite athlete. Just because he's an elite athlete that doesn't necessarily mean that he'll end up being the best "running back" prospect in the next year's draft.

Derwin James - DB - Seminoles

FSU redshirt sophomore S Derwin James said he's the best player in college football.

"I do think I'm the best player in the country, because of the way I make people around me better and how I help my teammates," James said. As a freshman in 2015, the 6-foot-3, 211-pounder posted a ridiculous 91 tackles, 9.5 TFL, 4.5 sacks, five passes defensed and two forced fumbles. A torn meniscus cost him all of last season. NFL.com's Daniel Jeremiah believes James could "develop into a faster, more athletic version of Kam Chancellor." NFL.com analyst Bucky Brooks likens James to a cross between 2017 first-round draft picks Jamal Adams and Reuben Foster.

Lamar Jackson - QB - Cardinals

Louisville coach Bobby Petrino says junior QB Lamar Jackson will operate an offense that is more similar to an NFL offense this fall.

Per Petrino, that means that L-Jax will be under center more, with more pro-style plays like traditional play-action passes. "It's also to help him prepare for the next level, there's no doubt about that," Petrino said. Jackson won the Heisman last year after becoming the first player in FBS history with 3,300 passing yards and 1,500 rushing yards in a season. He's considered slightly outside of the Tier 1 of USC's Sam Darnold, UCLA's Josh Rosen and Wyoming's Josh Allen when discussing the 2018 NFL quarterback class.

I just don't believe that just because he bench presses a thousand pounds that automatically makes him the best running back in the nation.

Jerome Baker - LB - Buckeyes

Ohio State junior LB Jerome Baker was timed at 4.37 in the forty this spring.

That's at 6-foot-1, 223 pounds, folks. "Baker has ridiculous measurables," said Mickey Marotti, Ohio State’s assistant AD for football sports performance. "He’s tough and he's Ryan Shazier-like if not faster. He can fly. He was 200 [pounds when he arrived at Ohio State]. He's now 223. Darron Lee is longer and more of a strider. Jerome is made for the walk-out [linebacker position]." Baker posted 83 tackles, 9.5 TFL and two interceptions last year. ESPN's Mel Kiper listed him No. 23 overall on his first 2018 big board.

In addition, he power cleans 380 pounds and bench presses 410. Gesicki set school records for a tight end in receptions (48) and receiving yards (679) last year. the 6-foot-6, 252-pounder is a former high school basketball and volleyball star.

Harold Landry - DL - Eagles

Draft Analyst's Tony Pauline reports that Boston College senior edge rusher Harold Landry is the "top-rated senior prospect" on the lists of "most" NFL scouts and is reminiscent on tape of Syracuse great Dwight Freeney.

"Landry is a tremendous pass rusher off the edge and a defender opponents gameplan around," Pauline wrote. "He beats blockers off the snap with a great first step and beats them around the edge with tremendous speed or exploits them with agility and devastating inside moves." Landry had 16.5 sacks last year despite constant double teams. Listed at 6-foot-3, 245 pounds, Pauline thinks he's more like 6'2/250 (and maybe even a little shorter). Because of that, the analyst thinks he could "line up as a one-gap end" and "also see time as a 3-4 OLB as he has the athleticism necessary to play in space." Earlier this month, NFL.com analyst and former NFL scout Daniel Jeremiah compared Landry to Vic Beasley.

The above quote is one of the hot ones from Rosen's one-on-one interview with Bleacher Report's Matt Hayes, but he offered plenty of context for it. Said the junior gunslinger, "No one in their right mind should have a football player’s schedule, and go to school. It’s not that some players shouldn’t be in school; it’s just that universities should help them more—instead of just finding ways to keep them eligible." He explained that "[t]rying to do both is like trying to do two full-time jobs."
