Can the Niners suck enough to get Sam Darnold or Josh Rosen? Let's hope so.

...My first instinct makes me partial to Rosen, but I'm in the infant stages of analysis on them.

I don't see many players who can push one to 3 or 4 like in '04 w/ Rivers, so it looks like they're a lock to go 1 & 2.

TANK FOR JOSH!!! (or Sam; whatever). Niners need Clyde to be right about Kizer, so the Flush-It-Downs win some games.

The NY media has been proposing a suck for Sam approach going into this season for months now...

No thanks on Rosen.

Darnold is leaps and bounds better. So are other few guys, IMO.

Rosen has a new OC and offense to get accustomed to. Should be interesting to see the results.

And a personality that has already turned off a lot of people. However, he's got some time to flip that around for the folks that believe in change and accelerated personal growth. Along with everything else that should be interesting as well as to how it'll go.

I can't get behind some of that personality stuff. Huge turnoff for me, and haven't been that excited about his play, either.

What don't you like about Rosen? I'll watch for it when I start breaking down his games.

Edit:

Watched a little bit of Rosen. LOVE how he quickly plants his feet & delivers big-boy throws that are pretty & accurate. Might be a little slow-footed (Bledsoe?), but I'd have to see more.

The interiour OL class for 2018 looks pretty good. I'd take Nelson from Notre Dame over anyone in the 2017 draft, and Billy Price looks like a mean, athletic, technically-sound guard who could probably play center.

First impressions of WR Courtland Sutton from SMU are pretty good.

Not a fan of his mental makeup at this point...both on and off the field. Doesn't seem like an easy guy to work with and I think that's a pretty red flag for a first round QB. We'll see what happens this year.

Ronnie Harrison - DB - Crimson Tide

In his 2018 mock draft, Rotoworld's Thor Nystrom projected the Dolphins to select Alabama junior S Ronnie Harrison at No. 14.

"Harrison was a little overshadowed by the Crimson Tide’s draft-eligible stars in the secondary last season, but he’ll break out into the national spotlight this fall," Nystrom writes, adding that the 6-foot-3, 216-pounder is "a big-hitter with plus-range." This past season, Harrison notched 83 tackles (1.5 for loss), two interceptions (one of which he returned for a touchdown) and seven passes defended.

Saquon Barkley - RB - Nittany Lions

Penn State junior RB Saquon Barkley told Sports Illustrated's Pete Thamel that he would consider sitting out a potential 2017 bowl game to avoid injury.

"I would have a hard time doing it, but I’m not going to sit here and say I would never do it. I don’t know," Barkley said. While there was a minor rumble on the internet when LSU's Leonard Fournette and Stanford's Christian McCaffrey opted to sit out bowl action this winter in order to preserve their health ahead of the NFL Draft, those decisions did nothing to hurt the pair of top-10 picks when all was said and done. Barkley is a shortlist Heisman contender for the coming season and a potential top-10 pick in his own right. He racked up 1,496 yards rushing and 18 touchdowns during the past campaign.

I agree...I'm a little turned off by his personality. He has that Jeff George / Jay Cutler narcissistic type personality trait. It's not confidence but another level of arrogance that clearly shows he's self-entitled! But he has a small chance to change that self image or perception in 2017.

As far as his ability to play the game, the kid is gifted. He plays in a pro style offense and doesn't struggle to make NFL type throws. He started as a true freshman and has the mental toughness to stay in the pocket and play the game how it's supposed to be played. However, there's a lot of growing up to do in that area as well. He reminds me of Lamar Jackson--what I mean by that is he has a tendency to stare down targets. And even though coach Mora allows him to make pre snap reads and audible to different plays, he doesn’t yet see the field in three dimensions, and is far too often surprised by a defender coming from somewhere he wasn’t paying attention to. These are the biggest issues with his game at this phase of his young career, and if he can iron out those few wrinkles, it wouldn't surprise to see him end up being the first overall pick. However, those bad habits aren't so easy to fix. Darnold on the other hand doesn't have these debilitating flaws in his game which makes him so appealing to everyone.

Lamar Jackson - QB - Cardinals

In a 2018 mock draft, Rotoworld's Thor Nystrom projected the Bills to select Louisville junior QB Lamar Jackson with the No. 7 pick.

The reigning Heisman Trophy winner is one of the most fascinating prospects in the 2018 pool (should he opt to declare for the draft at the end of the coming season). Nystrom writes that his upside is that of a "right-handed Michael Vick," while noting that there is "more variance to Jackson’s NFL projection than with any other prospect mentioned in [Nystrom's mock draft]." Rotoworld's CFB guru passes along that the 6-foot-3, 215-pounder recorded a sizzling 40-yard dash time of 4.34 seconds during spring testing. If Jackson can take a step forward as a passer during the coming campaign, be afraid. Be very afraid.

Watched a little more Sam Darnold, and I have to say that I like Rosen's game a lot better so far. Darnold looks smart & coordinated, which were the qualities I like in Connor Cook, but the dude looks even more heavy-footed than Rosen, and Darnold's delivery is not pretty at all; it's long. Dude's got a Kareem-Abdul-Jabbar-like sky hook thing going on; I foresee a lot of fumbles. He also doesn't seem as accurate as Rosen (or Trubisky).

In fact, I might like Trubisky better than either one; although Rosen is better in some areas. I definitely like Jared Goff more than Darnold so far.

Still have more games to watch though...

Yeah, there's no comparison. People have to be out of their friggn' minds to think Sam Darnold is better than Josh Rosen.

Darnold looks like Hackenberg 2.0, and Rosen looks like Manning 2.0 (which Manning, I'm not sure).

Accuracy: Rosen

Delivery: Rosen

Reading defense & going through progressions: Tie
