So you really think the Jet's brass just traded up for the third pick and said, "Okay, whichever one of these franchise QBs falls in our laps is the one we'll be taking." The fact you don't believe SQBK is in the realm of possibility is mindless. Now, I can't definitively say, SQBK is getting taken by the Jets but 99% sure he'll be taken in the top 3. The odds that there are three deserving QBs that will be picked consecutively right out the gate is the other 1%.

If they feel really good about the top quarterbacks this year, combined with some inkling of how they believe it'll fall based on their research, I strongly lean towards them going the QB route. I don't know of a hired personnel man in history who'd make that trade if they only liked 1 of the QBs even if it was the guy they felt most sure about falling to them. I can't name anybody that I've studied who I believe would push their luck with that.

Slightly different situation with the Rams and Eagles but the Eagles made their move feeling good about both Goff and Wentz. Obviously it was probably a little safer for them because they only had 2 evaluations to make as opposed to the likely 3 but there's a little history there of a team moving up roughly the same number of spots to take a QB that was the leftover guy.

Would they make that trade if they liked/loved two of the quarterbacks and didn't really like the other very much? I doubt that. Do I blindly think they don't have a preference? I absolutely do think they have a preference if forced.

Slight curve ball where I might differ with a lot of people. Would I tell somebody, "Yep, it's 100% that they take a QB?" No, I wouldn't do that. Why? Because I don't HAVE to tell anybody that. I rarely like throwing out the 100% stuff. Personnel men do weird/dumb stuff all the time in the NFL. (Actually, I'm not a huge Darnold guy other than him as a man and Allen scares me as a project so I'm not saying if you pass on either you're dumb). You won't hear me say it's 100% with a lot of things anymore.

If I'm another team trying to gauge what their plans are, the numerous reports of how they tried to handle the QB spot in FA gives me confidence that this move is for their quarterback and that they feel good about multiple guys. All 3? I don't know. More likely than not I think a part of them would feel comfortable with any one of the three.

In regards to Barkley specifically. I will repeat for the millionth time so none of his fans get upset that I think he's a special and unique back. I will repeat that I think he has one of the highest ceilings I've ever studied in a running back. He also has one of the lowest floors of all the top backs I've ever studied. Would I ever say the Jets will NOT take him? No, I wouldn't say that. Do I strongly believe they'll pass on him if he's there? Yes, I do think they'll pass on him if they're done moving.

Most have said that for a long, long time. Some suggested they (Jets) moved up for a non-QB, specifically Barkley. That bump was for that discussion.

I think the Rosen is too curious to know why crowd just began forming in April. Before that wasn't he consistently mocked #2? There were articles of SQBK possibly dropping past #6. I'd have to ask Bingo who's very tapped into the general consensus of college prospects, but SQBK at #2 may have been the minority opinion at the time.

NFL media analyst Daniel Jeremiah tweeted that in studying Florida WR Antonio Callaway, he reminded him of former Gator Percy Harvin.

Callaway oozed talent in his time at Florida, but his off-the-field issues are rampant, as he's been cited for marijuana possession on multiple occassions and also was kicked off the team due to his role in a credit card fraud case. Still, his ability as a receiver and punt-returner is readily apparent, even while playing with some of the worst quarterbacks in the conference. Someone might take a chance on him, but you have to wonder if the risk is worth the reward.

I wouldn't take that kid on if you paid me big bucks to do it. I'm a hard, hard pass on that one.

NFL Draft News & Notes: April 11

http://draftanalyst.com/nfl-draft-news-notes-april-11

Several people have confided in me that additional and new red flags have popped up on former Florida receiver Antonio Callaway since the combine.

The talented receiver and return specialist turned in a terrific combine last month after sitting on the sidelines in 2017. Callaway, along with six other players, was suspended by the Gators last August for a violation of team rules. Josh Norris of Rotoworld reported earlier this week that the New York Jets brought Callaway in for an official visit.

I'm just going to keep this one rolling with some of my previous statements:

One other draft item of note. This offseason Antonio Brown started working out with Callaway and it was said he was kind of mentoring him a little bit and trying to help him.

Pozz, if you had a choice and you had to choose one, or else you are fired as a GM. Who would you use a draft pick on...:

1.) Chris Henry
2.) Janoris Jenkins
3.) Randy Gregory
4.) Antonio Callaway
5.) Josh Gordon
6.) Arden Key

Antonio Callaway - WR - Player

Florida WR Antonio Callaway failed his Combine drug test, testing positive for marijuana with a "diluted sample."

Callaway claims he was "over-hydrated," and that he will address the issue with teams. Callaway dealt with a litany of off-the-field issues as a Gator, and was suspended for his entire junior season. Callaway had a strong Combine but has forced himself into Day 3 flier territory.

Mike McGlinchey - T - Fighting Irish

Rotoworld's Thor Nystrom projects the Raiders to select Notre Dame T Mike McGlinchey in his 2018 Mock Draft.

Nystrom believes that McGlinchey (6'8/312) to the Raiders is one of the "surer things' in the top 10, although this appears to be a year where there aren't many sure things in the draft at all. He's considered by most to be the best tackle in the class, and maybe more importantly, the most ready to play. A very good Oakland offensive line could be getting even better Thursday.

Me, Crims and Calamity had a discussion on this topic a while back:

Josh Allen - QB - Cowboys

ESPN's Adam Schefter was told by a GM that there's a 50 percent chance that four of the first five picks are quarterbacks.

The order of the quarterbacks is still very much up for debate, but it sounds like there's at least a chance -- maybe even a strong one -- that Sam Darnold, Josh Allen, Josh Rosen and Baker Mayfield are four of your first five selections. The question would then become whether that fourth pick -- likely the Browns -- is Saquon Barkley or Bradley Chubb. We've never had four of five picks be quarterbacks, and we haven't had three quarterbacks go in the first three picks since 1999. It sounds like we might see some history on Thursday.

Ha! This is why you're great sometimes. I'd EASILY choose Josh Gordon and it's not close. I actually really like Josh Gordon when he's on the field. For this scenario I can't say my usual "but he scares the crap out of me" because they all do. I've actually advocated for pursuing him if the Browns ever decided to make him realistically available. It'd come with a lot of provisions and I'd have to lay out my expectations for everyone so that it might make more sense but that one is an easy question. He'd be far and away my choice of the 6.

I'm in the minority on a lot of draft/NFL character stuff these days but this statement doesn't help him with me either.

I think the 49ers would take McGlinchey over Nelson.

I also think, like a ton of other people, that they won't be presented with having to make that choice either, though.

LOL. Thanks for even entertaining this little stupid game of mine. But I'm shocked that you still trust Gordon. You surprise me a lot at times with the occasional curve balls. If I remember correctly, Gordon scared the living crap out of everyone (boards we were in) when he came out. I believe it was a supplemental draft, because he basically ran out of chances at Baylor, and therefore couldn't enter the draft... anyway, I'm shocked you would still trust Gordon after all he's got himself into over the years.

Hahaha. Ray hates Edmunds with a passion. I know how that feels--every year, there's always that one player I feel the same about and when I play the what if scenarios, I say to myself: I would hate GM/coach "..." if we select "...." (player).
