This kid Bryce Love is a problem. If Ameer Abdullah is able to go in the second round, so can he. I wouldn't mind pairing him with Hyde:

Bryce Love - RB - Cardinal

Stanford redshirt sophomore RB Bryce Love has forced 39 misses tackles on runs in 2017.

Love (5'10/186) has been unparalleled this season, and while he's known more for his breakaway speed, he's shown that he's capable of breaking tackles as well. Those 39 missed tackles are the most any player has forced in 2017 among draft-eligible tailbacks. He might be playing himself into first-round consideration at this point despite his small stature.

Bryce Love - RB - Cardinal

NFL Media's Chad Reuter writes that Stanford redshirt junior RB Bryce Love's overall skill set puts him in the "elite" category.

Love (5'10/186) has rushed for 1,088 yards and eight touchdowns through five games on a ridiculous 10.8 yards per attempt. He's forced 39 missed tackles, tops in the FBS. "Love has used his top-notch burst and amazing open-field cuts to lead the nation with 196.8 rushing yards per game (Penny is second with 179)," Reuter wrote. Love has proven a worthy replacement for Christian McCaffrey, though his game isn't quite as well-rounded. If you want to nitpick Love, you bring up that he has only two catches for five yards so far.

More Tyler Rogers. He and Jaleel Scott both need to be under consideration for drafting. Scott looks like a Josh Doctson type, except he's not a dinosaur like Doctson was as a prospect.

Sam Darnold - QB - Trojans

The MMQB's Albert Breer spoke with one veteran NFL evaluator who tried to explain why USC redshirt sophomore QB Sam Darnold is struggling early in the season.

"He’s still learning to read defenses," the evaluator said, adding Darnold is "just not there yet" while mentioning his tendency to stare down receivers and the hitch in his throwing motion. Breer takes it one step further, relaying concerns about Darnold dropping his eyes against the pass rush in last week's loss. This is a very, very important point, as it can be a fatal flaw in the NFL. Luckily we have plenty of games to watch before the 20-year old enters the NFL.

Sam Darnold - QB - Trojans

USC redshirt sophomore QB Sam Darnold remains the No. 1 player on Todd McShay's big board.

"Darnold has made some questionable decisions throwing the football this season (at least one interception in each game so far), but it hasn't changed my evaluation of him," he wrote. Darnold's (6'4/220) completion percentage and YPA average are both down from last year, while his interception rate has soared. McShay isn't concerned. At least not yet. "His delivery still needs to be cleaned up, but his accuracy is phenomenal," he wrote. "He is the most complete quarterback in college football and a potential franchise signal-caller."

Bryce Love - RB - Cardinal

Stanford redshirt junior RB Bryce Love has recorded 18 carries that equaled 20-plus yards in five games this season.

Only one team (!) has more runs that have equaled or surpassed 20-plus yards, Notre Dame. Compare the 18 by an individual to Christian McCaffrey last season, who produced 14 for the entire year. Love has been unbelievable this season.

Yo that kid Jake Fromm is a beast man. He might be the best true freshman I have ever seen played for Georgia. That includes Matt Stafford. I saw Fromm played last year in the U.S. Army All-American game, and he had a very good game, but I didn’t come away overly impressed for some reason. I didn’t think he was going to amount to anything at the college level (in terms of ever becoming an elite player). He’s been lighting it up playing spectacular football from day one. I don’t think Jacob Eason will win his position back even when he’s fully healthy, just because Fromm is already playing at an elite level right now. It’s just scary how much better he can get...

Bryce Love - RB - Cardinal

Stanford redshirt junior RB Bryce Love ran for 152 yards on 20 carries with a score in a 23-20 victory over Utah on Saturday.

Love (5'10/186) was held in check for most of the game, or at least by his lofty standards. Then with Stanford holding a 16-13 lead, Love did what he does best; run past defenders. His 68-yard touchdown gave the Cardinal a 23-13 lead that the Utes couldn't come back from. Love is well on his way to a 2,000 yard season, and he'll add to his impressive totals against Oregon next week.

Rashaad Penny - RB - Aztecs

San Diego State senior RB Rashaad Penny ran for 170 yards and two scores in an easy 41-10 victory over UNLV on Saturday.

Penny (5'11/200) has gone over 100 yards in each game this year, and it's his third multi-touchdown game of the season. UNLV is not a great defense, and Penny exposed them on several long runs as well as two short touchdowns. The only reason he won't lead the NCAA in rushing right now is Bryce Love (probably) cannot be stopped. Boise State is his next victim.

Royce Freeman - RB - Ducks

Oregon senior Royce Freeman (shoulder) ran for 62 yards on 12 carries in the 33-10 loss to Washington State on Saturday.

Freeman (6'0/229) was effective when he ran the ball, but he clearly wasn't 100 percent, and the Ducks clearly had the senior on a pitch count, and his touches were also limited by the game flow -- game flow being code for not-very-good Oregon defense in this case. Freeman should see more carries next week against Stanford.

Luke Falk - QB - Cougars

Washington State senior QB Luke Falk threw for three touchdowns and 282 yards on 24-of-42 passing in an easy 33-10 victory over Oregon on Saturday.

Falk (6'4/223) certainly wasn't bad against the Ducks, but he was surprisingly inaccurate, particularly on the deep balls. That being said, he still was able to hit his receivers on-time, and he added three more scores to his ledger; a ledger that already holds most of the Washington State records. Falk should have a field day next week against the Cal defense.

Drew Lock - QB - Tigers

Missouri junior QB Drew Lock completed 22-of-42 passes for 355 yards and three touchdowns in Saturday's 40-34 loss to Kentucky.

Lock had seemingly fallen off the table after torching Missouri State for seven touchdown passes in the season opener, but he finally broke back into the light with a strong performance against the Wildcats (albeit, in a losing effort). Prior to Saturday's showing, Lock had failed to throw for more than 245 yards in any of his last three games. In that same space, he put in a pitiful 3/5 TD/INT ratio. While he has finally bounced back, he'll probably be in for a long afternoon next weekend -- Missouri will be traveling to Athens to take on Georgia in one week.

Courtland Sutton - WR - Mustangs

SMU redshirt junior WR Courtland Sutton caught 11 passes for 160 yards in Saturday's 35-22 loss to Houston.

Sutton was essentially a non-factor through the first four games of the season -- he failed to record more than 35 yards receiving in three of those contests -- but has come on like a house on fire over the past two weekends. In that recent space, the 6-foot-4, 214-pounder has logged an 18-272-2 receiving line. We expect him to trend closer to the latter output moving forward than his earlier ghosting performances. SMU is off on bye next Saturday, with a road date against Cincinnati to follow.

Ronald Jones II - RB - Trojans

USC junior RB Ronald Jones II rushed for 79 yards and a touchdown on 12 carries in Saturday's win over Oregon State.

Jones notched a little four-yard touchdown run early in the first quarter. For the campaign as a whole, the 6-foot, 200-pounder has now rushed for 529 yards and seven touchdowns. Jones has surpassed 100 yards rushing in three of five games this season. A little bit of an ankle injury has hampered him of late, but he looks to be past that at this juncture.

Sam Darnold - QB - Trojans

USC redshirt sophomore QB Sam Darnold completed 23-of-35 passes for 316 yards, three touchdowns and an interception in Saturday's 38-10 win over Oregon State.

Darnold did throw an interception in the victory and barely managed to complete more than 50% of his passes, but despite those demerits, this was a much sharper performance than he put forth against Washington State in last Friday's upset loss. In six games this season, the future NFL gunslinger has thrown for 1,705 yards with a 12/9 TD/INT ratio.

J.K. Dobbins - RB - Buckeyes

Ohio State freshman RB J.K. Dobbins ran for 96 yards on 13 carries with a touchdown in a 62-14 route of Maryland on Saturday.

Dobbins split carries with senior running back Mike Weber, but once again, Dobbins looked like the star with Weber looking like the complementary back. His touchdown was a three-yard score to give OSU a 55-7 lead late in the third quarter. Expect more big numbers for the freshman next week against Nebraska.

Cam Akers - RB - Seminoles

FSU freshman RB Cam Akers rushed for 121 yards on 20 carries in Saturday's 24-20 loss to Miami.

We've been waiting for five-star frosh Akers to have his breakout game. Saturday's showing might not quite have been of the supernova variety, but it was incredibly encouraging nonetheless. Not only did the 5-foot-11, 210-pounder lead Florida State in rushing yardage in the game, he received 20 carries to Jaques Patrick's 11 -- a strong sign that HC Jimbo Fisher and staff are beginning to trust Akers to a greater degree.

Derrius Guice - RB - Tigers

LSU junior RB Derrius Guice (knee) ran for 50 yards on 17 carries in a 17-16 upset win against Florida on Saturday.

He added two catches for 21 yards. Guice has been limited due to a lingering knee injury for nearly a month now. Once again, he didn't look completely like himself. Even so, he was the Tigers' most consistent offensive player. As long as Guice can suit up, LSU will give him as many touches as he can handle going forward. They don't have much choice.

Jarrett Stidham - QB - Tigers

Auburn redshirt sophomore QB Jarrett Stidham completed 14-of-21 passes for 235 yards and two touchdowns in Saturday's 44-23 win over Ole Miss.

Stidham hit up Ryan Davis for a 75-yard touchdown with under five minutes remaining in the first quarter, then came out to fire off one more scoring pass in the second quarter. Slowly but surely, Auburn's offense is beginning to gel under the redshirt sophomore's guidance. Stidham has thrown five of his seven touchdown passes on the season over his last three games.

Saquon Barkley - RB - Nittany Lions

Penn State junior RB Saquon Barkley rushed for 75 yards and two touchdowns on 16 carries in Saturday's 31-7 win over Northwestern.

The Wildcats did a fantastic job against Barkley, who had almost no rushing output in the first half. He would go on to bust out for a 53-yard touchdown gallop in the third quarter to account for the majority of his yardage on the ground. Barkley remains our Heisman favorite even with Saturday's modest numbers.

Tyler Rogers - QB - Aggies

New Mexico State senior QB Tyler Rogers completed 27-of-50 passes for 356 yards, two touchdowns and six interceptions in Saturday's 45-31 loss to Appalachian State.

Oh dear goodness no. Rogers entered Saturday having thrown five picks in five games, but more than doubled that number against the Mountaineers. That aside -- as much as it can be pushed aside -- the 6-foot-3, 218-pounder has been statistically sharp for the most part this season, having now posted at least 300 yards passing in five of six games. He has also thrown for two or more touchdowns in every contest this season. Still, six interceptions. Six.

Chip Kelly did a telestrator of one of Falk's TD passes in the red zone.

Spread formation and on this play, two of his WRs were doubled. So he found the third read and hit him on a skinny post to either a TE or a slot WR, pretty accurate placement.

I don't know though, none of Mike Leach's previous QBs have made it in the NFL, despite the often gaudy numbers they put up in college, in that spread offense.

Falk may end up being another guy who's got to learn to play under center in the NFL.
