This 49er defense is a joke.

I'm hoping one day Thomas learns to locate the ball and keep outside containment.

Williams has the second highest burn rate in the league. Good thing they extended him.

That's one of Witten's most athletic plays in 5 years easy. Talk about another guy with next to no flexibility anymore. Sheesh.

And he's doing a good job of blocking Thomas when he's matched up.

Thomas is always going to sting to me given the number 2 will always be associated with him but if I put that aside, and I don't want to, but if one forces me to put that aside, I don't have major, major gripes with that guy and has been getting better the last several weeks IMO. The major, major gripes will cement when the number 2 comes up and and he levels off eventually, however. For now I can only be mad about so much. Right now he's not elevating my health numbers. :)

Our blockers aren't having a very good day. Come on, guys. Two players and we can't block a guy?

That you would go into a season with these guards on your roster is just amazing to me. And I get better than almost anybody that many times your hands are tied and there's only so much you can address but that you would actually go into a season with them on your roster is just unforgivable, but more importantly, amazing to me.

Tomlinson, as I've said a million times, I like and I'm giving him a bit of a pass for a while. I'll roll with that guy every day.

That is why I have a gripe with him. He was way overdrafted imo. I never see him living up to that high of a pick unless he's posting 8+ sacks a season and dominating in the run game. We are seeing why Tank was starting over him. Dude was pretty solid at setting the edge. Thomas has been pretty clueless in this area.

I also don't understand the insistence of playing Thomas against LTs. He isn't winning against them. I'd move him to the RT and see if he can generate some pass rush. I'd also try to get him iso'd against the TE as much as possible as well even though Witten is doing well on him today. Don't get me started on him playing inside at DT.
