Different role but they could call up Pita from the PS to take the spot on the 53 if they wanted. Their only other in-roster move without adding another number to a completely different position would be to already call up Daeshon Hall but that feels highly unlikely.

You could also look at it like call up whoever you want to the 53 for two weeks because after that they were going to need a roster spot for Reuben Foster coming back.

That's being generous.

It's more like Jimmy G throws an incompletion he'll be the worst FA signing of history.

Or run play for no gain: Jimmy Raye is a better play caller than Shanahan.

As far as the game goes I expect a Vikings win since they are at home and they just have the better overall roster.

But I do expect it to be closer than what I've seen the pundits call it so far and I think the 9ers as a team are at that stage where they could beat or be beaten by anybody so they are a tough team to really call weak to weak.

If they are going to win Jimmy G will obviously have to play well but I think they'll need to have at least moderate success running the ball.

When it comes to the defense the weakest area of the Vikings is their O line and the strongest group on defense is the D Line so there is potential for the boys up front to make life miserable for the Vikings offense and take a lot of pressure off the secondary.

I expect our offense to provide continued threats.. whether they end in Pts is up in the air, but I want to see us moving the ball well. Win or lose, it'll be a huge confidence boost.

I am just preparing myself to be frustrated with our defense. But Hey, i'm open to a pleasant surprise!!! lol

No mention of concerns about the OL today? That's where I'd go to first. That has the potention to get ugly in a hurry.

I'm trying to think of something that would be considered a toss up to me today that could be good or bad but I feel so sure (more negative than positive) at so many spots going into this year. I don't think a ton will surprise me early/middle of this year.

Maybe the closest thing to the toss up would be...Sherman? Obviously the fact it's an injury situation plays a big part into that. That's probably the closest thing that could come to a surprise for me early on in the year. Good and bad.

Weird start to the year. Usually I have more doubt than this - good and bad. Or more, I need more time before thinking this or that. There's less of that this year.

Obviously all the Jimmy G. stuff, and everything surrounding him, deserves more time to marinate before going off even more on that, but even with that stuff I feel like I know how that story is going to wind up going. But we shall see.

Overall theme: Do everything possible to make the team situation more attractive for THE general manager of the future and THE coach of the future. Make it an attractive spot with the development. Win/loss column isn't at the forefront of my thoughts. That plays a part into the attractiveness for guys but I'll consider it a big win if they can develop enough guys to make this a more attractive place for better coaching names and better GM names for down the road. Don't make it worse. Don't complicate the roster any more within coaching and GM control.

No because you know who else is probably worried about the Oline? Shanahan and I trust him to scheme to avoid it causing a lot of problems especially in the pass game. The run game is a toss up but I have a lot of faith in Shanahan

I have zero idea who on this board knows my thoughts on Shanahan at this point so forgive me if this is becoming redundant to say it again but I've never loved the Shanahan system in almost all of its forms and the evolution of it outside of a few specific things so that's a difference with me.

I'm willing to be wrong. I'm willing to change with almost all coaches (most of the Shanahan experience is pretty much set in stone at this point his career though). So we'll see. I don't get everything right. Often I worry about things that end up not being stuff I should worry about in the football spectrum. Often I am surprised. I won't be hard-headed on some things if I don't need to be. The Shanahan experience has a long way to go with me, however.

Let's do it! I've got us losing this game, but we should be competitive. Big question for me, other than Jimmy, of course, is how the inside pass rush looks. That's going to be incredibly important if we're gong to make a playoff run this year.

With Reuben in, that's a three-yard gain.
