please not Breida.

He seems most likely especially if we can get a draft pick for him

It would be so dumb to get rid of Breida. He's incredibly cheap, and is a good RB. He has good vision, great speed, knows how to follow his blocks. He showed real strides as a receiver between his first and second year. He's the sort of player we should keep on the roster. If they trade him because they signed Coleman, I'll like that signing even less.

From $286 to $395K: NFL's smallest, biggest incentives

http://www.espn.com/blog/los-angeles-rams/post/_/id/40098/from-286-to-395k-nfls-smallest-biggest-incentives

Jimmy Garoppolo, QB, 49ers; bonus: $909.01

Had already taken in 41.95M before taxes. The 1 penny on there makes me happy for some reason.

Giants wanted second overall pick from the 49ers for Odell Beckham

https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2019/03/16/giants-wanted-second-overall-pick-from-the-49ers-for-odell-beckham/

“The 49ers were in several different times,” Glazer writes. “They tried during the season and they tried here in the offseason. Someone with the Giants told me they were asking for the second pick of the draft from the 49ers, which the 49ers weren’t willing to do.”

The average is 24th in the league among backs. Similar to the deal that Mike Davis got from the Bears only his was for 3 years. Their roles will be different, however.

The average among many of the top special teams players in the league is 2.6M/year. Obviously that number will slowly continue to tick upward.

Seems like a fine deal so long as they are right on their evaluation that Mostert will continue to be a top special teams guy.

It felt like a ton of the guys they had out there for most of the year shouldn't have been out there and/or there was a problem in the coaching/scheming. I honestly have zero idea and don't want to speculate. A scheme over evaluation problem would be an easier problem to correct on the surface so personally I hope it's more of that than an evaluation problem because I already have concerns with them on that front.

I agree. I don't believe it will be Breida. He's young, inexpensive, and has a lot of potential to be a very good RB. I think McKinnon is a more logical choice. Trade him to the Eagles, they need a RB.

This was always wishful thinking only in my mind but I've wanted him on a 1-year deal the last 2 years. Exactly the type of #2 TE that I think Jimmy G. needs. I repeat: I was not expecting it to happen but I would have inquired and been aggressive from a money perspective to try and bring him on if I had the power to do so.

Might be the first time since at least 2017 (when he took the NY job) that I've seen Gettleman identify a defensive player that I think is worth anything substantial. I'll give him credit for that.

The only FA moves in his career I ever agreed with at the time for the money was for a 34-year old Charles Tillman (1-year, $2M) and a 32-year old Paul Soliai (2 years, $7M).

FOR HIS CAREER.................

“I feel like if you look at our team, the only position you probably couldn’t argue to go get someone at is quarterback, just because of what we’ve done there and the three guys we have,” Shanahan said of Jimmy Garoppolo, C.J. Beathard and Nick Mullens.

The two guys I'd have a fun time working with this year from a coaching perspective would be Ryan Finley and Tyree Jackson. I'm not putting my name on them with ANY guarantees at all because I don't love most of the QB coaching structures currently going on in the league right now, and I'm not high on this class overall, BUT those would be the two guys I'd probably enjoy working around the most from this class and would pick in relation to value.

I'd rather force feed those two on Shanahan over Beathard and Mullens as well but with no guarantees or absolutes on ANYTHING that would happen thereafter. Could be good/better. Could be a disaster.

Yep. I used to NEVER agree on Todd with anything when he started. In fact, I reallllllly didn't think he should have his job way back in the day when he was just their Scouts. Inc. guy. But I'll give him this, I'm agreeing with him considerably more than I used to for some reason.

Omission: I have to give him some credit for Kawann Short. I loved that guy.

He's no Michael Dickson so I'm not going to get shouty like I did with him but I will repeat: Arkansas-Pine Bluff punter Jamie Gillan. I'm down.
