DEEBO SAMUEL
WR, SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS

The Athletic's Matt Barrows projects Deebo Samuel as the 49ers' No. 2/starting "Z" receiver.

This is in line with what NBC Bay Area's Matt Maiocco predicted immediately following Samuel's selection at No. 36 overall. Barrows expects Dante Pettis to be the No. 1/"X," giving the Niners an extremely young starting tandem. It will be a risk/reward proposition for a team hoping to finally get a full season of play from Jimmy Garoppolo.

MILES SANDERS
RB, PHILADELPHIA EAGLES

NJ.com's Zack Rosenblatt said it's "premature" to expect second-round RB Miles Sanders to become the Eagles No. 1 running back.

Sanders has been sidelined since the start of OTAs, and Rosenblatt believes he's now "behind the eight-ball." Coach Doug Pederson said the plan is to "slowly work him into the mix and see just how he can help us on game day." The Eagles have a stable of veterans -- Jordan Howard, Wendell Smallwood, Corey Clement, etc. -- but none are good enough to keep Sanders off the field when he's caught up and healthy. The question is if that will be by Week 1 or much deeper into the season.

JJ ARCEGA-WHITESIDE
WR, PHILADELPHIA EAGLES

NJ.com's Zack Rosenblatt believes second-round WR JJ Arcega-Whiteside "should be able to contribute right away."

Arcega-Whiteside is now the unquestioned No. 4 receiver behind Alshon Jeffery, DeSean Jackson, and Nelson Agholor. The depth chart is crowded, but the coaching staff is trying to find ways to get him on the field at practice. The Eagles have given JJAW reps in the slot this offseason, even though he almost exclusively played outside at Stanford where he dominated downfield and in the red zone. Arcega-Whiteside is a name to remember if one of the Eagles' starters goes down, and he could usurp Agholor by the end of the season.

PARRIS CAMPBELL
WR, INDIANAPOLIS COLTS

According to Kevin Bowen of 1070 The Fan, Colts second-round WR Parris Campbell "should be in the mix" for No. 3 receiver duties in Indianapolis this year.

The Colts' receiving depth chart remains unsettled behind locked-in starters T.Y. Hilton and Devin Funchess. Campbell enters training camp with a chance to carve out a role as Indy's third receiver, though with Hilton and Funchess in front of him along with tight ends Eric Ebron and Jack Doyle, the former Buckeye could struggle for consistent targets in a suddenly dense Colts receiving corps.

N'KEAL HARRY
WR, NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS

According to Ben Volin of the Boston Globe, Patriots first-round WR N'Keal Harry "didn't have the best minicamp."

Per Volin, Harry struggled to get open against Stephon Gilmore and also made "a handful of mental mistakes" including lining up in the wrong spot. Struggling against a first-team All-Pro in Gilmore is understandable, though it's worth noting that Harry's separation skills, or lack thereof, were the biggest knock on him coming out of Arizona State. The good news is that Harry received a ton of reps this offseason and still has plenty of time to learn the intricacies of Josh McDaniels' offense before the regular season gets under way. He's a good bet to start opposite Julian Edelman in Week 1.

TRACE MCSORLEY
QB, BALTIMORE RAVENS

Ravens rookie QB Trace McSorley has been taking reps as a punt returner.

McSorley called his new role "interesting" and didn't stop there. "It's had its ups and downs, obviously the first couple times doing it, but it's going well. I'm looking forward to be able to come out and do anything that I can, especially in the special teams aspect for the team." The sixth-rounder could be moved all over the field--wild cat, running back, tight end, slot receiver, returner, kick coverage--but don't expect him to compete for the actual starting quarterback job. The Ravens are basically galaxy-braining the Saints' Taysom Hill experience.

ewww god awful route by DK in this clip. That's the type of route that leads to interceptions in games. I don't see the hype at all, he is easily the most overrated player in the draft. I can't believe I'm the only one who doesn't like him.

Wow. I could have jumped that route.

Metcalf is a limited player, but his strengths are remarkable. Lots of people didn't like him in the top-10 (there were one or two mocks that had him going to the Niners....), but he's good value where the Hawks got him, and complements what they want from him. Even if he never develops his route-running, in that offense, as a deep threat, he could be a real weapon.

My '19 bust pick lookin' good so far. Guy from the Crapramento area; seems like a guy anyone would want to succeed, but I think he's gonna disappoint.

BRYCE LOVE
RB, WASHINGTON REDSKINS

Redskins RB Bryce Love (ACL) "likely won't be ready for the start of the season."

Love was said to be aiming for a mid-training camp return, but this new timeline fits the traditional rehab time of a torn ACL. With Adrian Peterson, Derrius Guice, and Chris Thompson on the roster, there's isn't any incentive to rush him back quickly. Even if he's active in 2019, touches will likely be limited.

HAKEEM BUTLER
WR, ARIZONA CARDINALS

Darren Urban of azcardinals.com projects Larry Fitzgerald, Christian Kirk and Andy Isabella as the team's top three wideouts.

So essentially Urban expects Isabella to start over fellow rookie Hakeem Butler. In fact, Urban made no mention of Butler, suggesting he could be as low as sixth on the team's receiving depth chart behind Kevin White and Damiere Byrd. Obviously nothing is set in stone, but from the looks of it, Butler has some serious ground to make up if he wants to make a year-one impact.

JOSH OLIVER
TE, JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS

Jaguars third-round TE Josh Oliver has shown "good rapport" with Nick Foles.

Oliver was one of the standouts of Jacksonville's offseason program. With little in front of him, he has a clear path to rookie-year snaps. Oliver's run-blocking may prevent him from an every-down role, but he looks like the favorite to play on passing downs.

JAMIL DEMBY
G, LOS ANGELES RAMS

Rams sixth-round OL Jamil Demby saw reps at multiple spots during OTAs.

Demby is cross-training at all five spots on the offensive line. He was a four-year starter at left tackle for FCS Maine but is primed for a swing role as a rookie. Long term, Demby may ultimately end up at guard.

BEN BANOGU
DL, INDIANAPOLIS COLTS

Colts are making second-round rookie Ben Banogu a full-time defensive end.

The Colts took a look at him at linebacker, but they'd rather have him develop as a pass rusher. The schemes will be different, but Banogu had a lot of success rushing the passer at TCU. In fact, Banogu led the Big 12 in quarterback pressures (60) last year. Banogu solidified a Day 2 pick with a 97th percentile SPARQ score at the Combine. There is upside if the Colts can morph him to their attacking defense.

DK METCALF
WR, SEATTLE SEAHAWKS

Russell Wilson has been encouraged by how quickly second-round WR DK Metcalf has picked up the Seahawks' offense.

Much has been made of Metcalf's physical gifts—he blazed a 4.33 forty at 6'3"/228 leading up to this year's draft—but what's really stood out to Wilson is the rookie's football IQ. "He's really intelligent. He really understands the game really well," said Seattle's long-time signal-caller. "He takes coaching really well. He gets extra work. He's a legit pro wide receiver." Metcalf nearly fell out of the second round due to concerns over his route-running, injury history and inconsistent hands, but clearly Wilson sees a lot of potential in the 21-year-old Ole Miss product.

DWAYNE HASKINS
QB, WASHINGTON REDSKINS

Redskins senior VP of player personnel Doug Williams said determining when to start first-round QB Dwayne Haskins will be a "group decision."

While Haskins is undoubtedly the team's quarterback of the future, the Redskins may opt to ease him in, particularly given the team's tough early slate with dates against Philadelphia, Dallas, Chicago and New England. Throwing Haskins to the wolves against juggernauts like the Patriots and Eagles could be damaging to the rookie's confidence, though ultimately Dan Snyder and Bruce Allen will have the final word on whether he begins his career as a starter or a backup to Case Keenum.

JEFFERY SIMMONS
DL, TENNESSEE TITANS

Titans DT Jeffery Simmons (ACL) posted a video of him running.

Simmons tore his ACL during the pre-draft process, so he's unlikely to play in 2019 unless the Titans rush him back for a late-season playoff push. Still, it's encouraging that his rehab appears to be on track. Before the injury, Simmons was being viewed as a top-10 overall prospect with strong production and athleticism. If he returns to previous form, the Titans will be getting value from their No. 19 overall pick.

MILES SANDERS
RB, PHILADELPHIA EAGLES

The Philly Voice's Jimmy Kempski believes Miles Sanders needs to improve in pass protection.

Kempski also lists ball security and receiving ability as concerns for the second rounder. Ideally, Sanders would have worked on those issues during the offseason program, but he missed every practice because of a hamstring injury. It is certainly possible Sanders has a great training camp and puts distance between himself and Jordan Howard, but his clearest path to rookie touches is in the passing game.

QUINNEN WILLIAMS
DL, NEW YORK JETS

Jets No. 3 overall pick Quinnen Williams didn't report for the start of training camp.

Williams has still yet to sign his rookie contract. The Jets did the same with Sam Darnold last year, who skipped the first few practices before reporting to camp. It's not clear what the holdup is with Williams, but he shouldn't miss much time.
