What are the excuses for the goose egg in the 1st half?

I'm not sure what we can make of this game with they **** field conditions. Hard for the offense to do much, hard for WR/TE's to get any separation, hard for RB's to make cuts, etc.

A healthy majority of NFL players feel it's easier on offensive players in poor footing generically speaking. However, coaches and play-callers have to know how to use it to their advantage with the types of routes and combos they call. NE makes this look FAR easier than any team in recent history. This SHOULD also be a strength in a Shanahan offense but.....

With a soaked and saturated football, it will be tough to throw anything substantial. I agree that it’s easier to play offense but not necessarily easier to pass

Rain vs. no rain, no, there is a difference. I just don't chalk up it being THIS bad to rain. The 49ers floor and this team is scary low/bad when several factors are at play. Unfortunately. As bad as the rain feels, I hate these early starts even more on the annoying scale.

Like missing 3 of our best blocking players (one of which can do a lot more in the offense) plus arguably our best WR? I can't imagine many teams missing 4 starters on offense plus the rain and field conditions are going to look good.
