If we didn't have to trade anything for him, and he came in on a one-year deal that is reasonable (he's shown a willingness to take less before), I'd absolutely strongly consider it. With Brady, a couple draft picks, and retaining two or three FA starters, this team would be SB favorites. Sure, it mucks up the cap situation a bit, and slows Lance's development a little more, but really hard to pass on a guy who is still playing at an MVP level.

Didn't Brady already sign a one-year extension for 2022, primarily to reduce his cap number? That would mean that to sign with another team, the Bucs would have to either trade or release him. While its possible the team might release him if he asked them to (after all, he IS Tom Brady!), but from a business standpoint why would the Bucs release him and get nothing for him? That would make a trade the only way he could sign here, or anywhere else besides Tampa, and we're not exactly flush with desirable assets/picks for such a trade.

Brady has some leverage due to that extension/restructure. If he officially retires before June (I think; not certain on the date), then the whole cap hit occurs this season. If he retires after June, then they can spread it out over two years. It's a huge longshot, but it is within the realm of possibility that Brady could force TB's hand and demand a release, then sign with another team.

But if he's inclined to keep playing at all, it's hard to see him not playing in TB. And I think there's a strong likelihood that he's over SF at this point. We had a few chances to get him, now, and have passed repeatedly.
