MNF: Jets @ Niners
CMC is a surprise inactive. This is going to be a tough game for the offense with CMC out and Aiyuk/Williams both coming in late. Defense will have to step up

I see this as a loss after the off-season drama. If CMC is still dealing with issues from last season, that's not a good sign

Oh man. Not great facing a really good defense. Though good opportunity to see what Mason will do. Picked him up on a whim in both fantasy teams this morning. Actually, had him queued up but had not hit confirm in the second, which I just did.

I just have no idea how the Jets are going to be so this is going to be tough. Jordan Mason can handle the running but losing out on the receiving part is going to be the hard part

Jets were a mess last year and Rodgers is on the wrong end of 40. Even without CMC this should be an easy W.

They still have a good defense and we know how Kyle is when his gameplan has to change and being without CMC is a huge change

Kyle has probably known for weeks that he wouldn't have CMC. Team was probably being coy about it so the Jets game planned for him.

Damn, no CMC is a big blow.
On the + side, we'll see what Mason can do with his first real taste of meaningful touches playing with and against the 1's. I would imagine Guerendo will get a few snaps, curious to see what he does with them.
Also with no CMC, I assume Deebo will spend a ton of time in the backfield tonight.

I've read that Mason has been working on his receiving this pre-season. My bigger question is how his blocking does. CMC has been very good at identifying and picking up free blitzers and I'm not sure if Mason has those same instincts.

Also, quite curious to see how Sorenson's defense looks.
Since he's an in house promotion, hopefully he is well aware of the biggest issues with the defense last season. Namely: flat starts to games seemingly caused by poor game planning, general 3rd down terribleness, not being able to get home to the QB and finish when they do get pressure, and far too much soft ass zone coverage.

Re: MNF: Jets @ Niners
9ers don't need CMC to win but it does definitely hurt not to have him in the lineup. Obviously, Mason can't step in and be an exact replacement for CMC I do think he's pretty good and just been largely overshadowed on the team. I didn't notice Isaac Guerendo on the inactives so I'm guessing he'll get some touches in the game.
Ultimately it's way more important to have a healthy CMC for the long haul so while it sucks that he can't go it's not like a week 1 loss spells the end of the season or anything.
I expect things to be slow on offense to start just based on it being week 1 and pretty much every offense I've seen play this week haven't been razor-sharp for a full game.
My biggest fear honestly is the run defense as Hall is a stud and it remains to be seen if the patchy run defense from last year has improved. The Jets offensive line isn't great which helps but it's still a concern.
And I loathe to drop the name because it's like dropping a grenade on this board but these are the kinda games Purdy needs to pull out if he wants to prove he's a big money guy. Not suggesting he needs to just light up the Jets and put up gaudy numbers but these are the games you need to put on your shoulders and win.

It'll probably look pretty similar to the Saleh/Ryans defense.
I'm hoping with Brandon Staley's fingerprints on it they'll try to disguise what they are doing a little more since that is the one thing I liked with Wilks and the one thing I wasn't thrilled with Saleh and Ryans.
My personal hopes is we see a ton of stunts tonight since the Jets offensive line hasn't played as a unit much so it'd be smart to test their teamwork and communication.
And I think everyone here knows one of the things that infuriates me the most with this team is playing soft on 3rd down and watching the QB pitch and catch with the receiver for easy first downs. The team probably could've had 15 more sacks last year if they didn't do that garbage.

You're right, and I think Kyle would welcome a Saleh/Ryans type of defense. Which is probably a big factor into why he got rid of Wilks and promoted Sorenson.
In my opinion the 2 best things about Wilks was he really elevated the play and effectiveness of the DB's. And he was really good with in game adjustments. That said, he wouldn't of had to be so good with adjustments if he had better game planning to start games.
