On another side note, I really don't know how they can afford to keep the core of this team together for much longer. They have top of the market caliber contracts invested into pretty much every position group (QB will have one of those soon.)

Been wanting this for a while. Love it! The tandem of he and Green is going to be great. Plus 2 talented safeties in Brown and Mustapha. Secondary is definitely the strength of the team

The 2024 draft is looking pretty damn good. Ward will likely be gone and that means Green will slide in his spot, we will draft another CB I would imagine.

We keep rolling over cap space apparently and I think everyone is assuming the salary cap will keep increasing but more than expected every year. There is only so much more left in guys like Williams, Hargrave, Deebo, & Kittle

Very happy with this move. Plus Lenoir has excelled at both the outside and slot positions so it gives the team flexibility to go after the best CB available in the draft.

For how much **** the front office and Kyle get on some of their questionable draft picks, they sure have hit on an awful lot

To be fair they really only have trouble when it comes to the guys that are going to be top of the market guys.

They usually do a good job of getting those guys that are below that locked up. I mean Greenlaw, Jennings, and now Lenoir were pretty painless.

Some of these guys have big cap hits too over the next couple of years so releasing them gets the team no salary cap relief.

If you look at Hargraves contract releasing them results in a big salary cap hit and they get no salary cap savings this coming year. I haven't looked at Deebo's contract recently but I think his was restructured so my guess is he also has a big salary cap hit this season. I doubt any team would absorb those contracts so we are more likely than not stuck with them for another season or two.

Apparently the Ravens may look to sign Ward in free agency.

In terms of this deal, I like it (pending the details, which I probably won't understand anyway). Probably a bit less than Lenoir could have gotten after FA started, and it locks him down for a long time. 12th highest-paid CB right now, but in a couple years he'll probably be in the 20s. He's a versatile guy who can play outside or inside, and brings the attitude we want for our team. Should ensure we have at least two solid CBs for the next three years, and we can look to add either an outside or inside guy given Lenoir's ability to play both.

Ok just read Maiocco latest article today, he thinks Deebo is more than likely to play out his contact. As for Hargrave, a post June 1 cut saves the 49ers $20 million on next year's cap.

Like it. He’s played great so far…always slightly nervous when a guy makes a contractually convenient jump, but this feels real. Agree that Ward is probably gone…feel guilty even thinking about this with what he’s going through. But if he is Green looks ready, to me he was always ~ boom or bust depending on how he’s officiated and so far that seems under control.

As for the rest, I had been thinking Kittle was due to decline, but imo he’s been our best player this year.

Ward is most definitely gone and one of Deebo or Aiyuk will be gone as well I'd say after this season, hell maybe **** both at this point and we roll w/ Jennings and Pearsall, Hargrave also a cut candidate

I doubt we can cut Aiyuk next year due to the cap ramifications. His dead cap hit would be like $40 million. Even post-June 1 I think it would be well into the double-digits.

If we could trade Deebo, I would definitely do that. I love Deebo, but he was a need when Garoppolo was the QB. With Purdy back there, guys who can win quickly against man coverage are more important than guys who can pick up YAC through sheer force of will.
