49ers @ Seahawks - Week 1

Hi everyone,
Another season is upon us, boy did the time fly by since last season ended. I wanted to start this thread so we can chat about the game as it happens of course on Sunday. Go Niners!

As for what I expect, I think its a very winnable game. Seattle doesnt have much offense and they have Sam Darnold. Yes he looked great against us last year, but this time he will not have Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison. Seattle's defense is solid so we need to keep Brock protected and do quick release. Hope and pray it doesnt come down to Jake Moody.

I have a feeling Saleh is going to blitz the **** out of Darnold and make him as uncomfortable as possible

Spoiler:
He might. But the Hawks are going to run at will against them.

They'll certainly try. It will be a good early test of the overhauling of the run D.

If preseason was any indication, they're going to be a heavy run team. It's been a point of emphasis all offseason.

I like our chances but don't love them and I wouldn't just fall out of my seat in shock if they lose.

It's a strength on strength kind of game with the Seattle offense and 9ers D having a lot of questions that we'll start to find out about Sunday.

I only give the 9ers the edge because I think on paper I like our roster better than the Hawk's but again without seeing our D in action it's impossible for me to say with certainty.

Having Saleh and not Sorensen in charge of the D gives my confidence a boost in terms of the D but I still expect it to look rough and it's just a matter of how rough it'll be. I mean we're really going to counting on Mykel, Collins, and West to hold up and at least be solid against the run in their first game and fortunately that's probably where they are the strongest right now but they still are far from finished products especially with 2 of them missing time in training camp.

Yeah, the Niners certainly have the edge as far as more offensive firepower when healthy & Purdy is more proven than Darnold. So we'll see...

The Hawks should be decent defensively this season in Mike Macdonald's second year. But guys like CMC & Kittle have always been a difficult matchup for them. It will be a challenge like always.

Both fanbases seem to be pretty confident going into this one tbh. It should be a great game.

CMC is active
Nick Martin is inactive which is not the greatest thing to see

Nick Martin is a curious inactive because I would've thought with his speed he would've been at least a Special Teams guy.

He flashed a lot of potential in preseason but he's clearly raw so I'm not trippin about his long-term prospects.

Seahawks will try to run the ball down our throat. Need to see if Saleh's revamped defense can stop them or not. And on the other side of the ball, can our O-line create holes in the running game to keep the pressure off of our passing game.

An actual 3rd down stop.

I have a tear in my eye.

Of course more ST blunders so guess I should wipe that tear.

Well the offensive line looks to be in mid season form

Not loving our O-line play in the early going.

Seems like a ticky-tack roughing penalty but I'll take it!

Easy call there on roughing the passer. Seattle just can't help themselves.
