What need do you think needs to be looked at and where do you think management will go? At the end of the season I wanted to get Leon Hall or Laron Landry but now that we sighnd Clements I thin we should go with Patrick Willis to help our ILB position he could be real good some day. I think we will also need to get a WR but i think we can get a good WR in the second or third round.
Who do you want you Niners to draft?

Trade up for CJ. CJ + VD and Gore = unstoppable for years to come.

If Branch is there, the niners will take him. If not, it will be Willis or Okoye, either one being fine with me. More signs have been pointing to Willis so if the niners take him in round 1, i see the niners going in this direction.
1. Willis
2. WR, (Sidney Rice)
3. DE
3. LT/RT
4. DT
4. WR
4. RB
4. DE/LB tweener
5. OL
6. DB
I actually see them trading up, unfortunatly not for calvin johnson, but in the later rounds. ex, maybe their 2nd and 4th to move up 8 spots or so. ANyways without trades, this is what i can see happening.

Willis should realistically drop to us.

I think we draft either Willis or Carriker and trade back up into the first round to try and get Bowe/Meachem...

I think Meachem and Bowe will be taken earlier now since the combine but if they do fall to us in the cecond round I would be excited if we could get either of those two.

Let me be the first to say I do not endorse the selection of Carriker...he is an overrated defender and really only had a good workout...
I would actually prefer Landry because you can never have enough talent on D and he would instantly make that defense one of the best in the NFC....but realistically he will be gone...and I am not opposed to the 49ers drafting Levi Brown RT from PSU...because Kwame Harris is truly the worst offensive tackle in football, bar none, and Brown would really solidify that offensive line from left to right.
If the niners are lucky FS Mike Griffin from Texas should be available in round 2...he was considered at lock for the first round until injuries hit him hard...he is every bit the size and as good as Landry just not as fast.
Others to consider at #11....
Patrick Willis
D'Wayne Jarrett
Jarvis Moss
Dwayne Bowe
Robert Meachem
This year I will say...judging from having watched the draft every year since i was 8...there are always AT LEAST 2 teams who will REACH for someone not projected in the top 10....my prediction for the 2 players who actually will fall to #11:
Jamaal Anderson
Alan Branch
On a side note to all my fellow faithful....
Isnt it great that the 49ers arent so much worried about NEED and can now just draft the BEST player available? That makes the draft SOOOO much better to watch when you dont know who is going to fall...but at #11 you are in a position to scoop up ANYONE who slips through the cracks.

On a serious note, yeah looking at his scouting report and his draft range, Patrick Willis would definitely be a solid pick.

I could see the 49ers going many ways. I think the most likely way is taking Willis at 11. However I think Branch could fall to us which then I think we take him. Even with those two things, I wouldnt be surprised if we trade down to around 16-19 and take one of the WR. I could see the Packers want to move up to 11 if AP is still there. So who really knows whats going to happen. I am just looking forward to everything.

IMO the idea of going for a 2nd round WR sort of defeats the purpose.
We don't need another # 2 guy or anything. We need a primary, and none of the 2nd round guys are primaries.
So you either move up for CJ, maybe take a flier on Ginn Jr or something, or you basically forget about it and hope Smith survives the year intact.

Yeah you guys are tough to gauge. Willis would be a nice pick for you guys but then you are still depending on Bryant to be your defensive end in the 3-4. Is there really a need for Branch when you already have Sopoaga. Remember a Nose Tackle doesnt have to be flashy just take on two blockers. I think the best pick for you guys is a leader on the defense such as Willis. He could be Nolan's new Ray Lewis. Now I do think you need to be carefull with Buffalo looming right behind you and maybe eager to trade up to secure Willis. Remember they just lost Flectcher and Spikes. They could also be looking to replace the loss of Clements though with Hall.

I know exactly what you mean about Willis and I agree with your assessment of him being a form of Ray Lewis....BUT...the 49ers actually are not too thin at LB so its not as immediate a need as say an impact DT-DE...Branch would give the 49ers a very solid tackle/end rotation which is necessary for big guys in today's NFL...the problem with the niner defense the last 2 years is that they do tend to wear down late in games...so adding to the defensive line is not such a bad thing.
The guy I'm betting on to be available in the 2nd round is Quentin Moses from UGA...he would be a MONSTER at OLB and its amazing that he has slipped to the 2nd-3rd round on a lot of draft boards.

NO WAY WE TAKE A SAFETY IN ROUND 1 or 2.......we have M. Lewis, Roman and K Lewis all under contact for at least the next 3-4 years......why draft someone who will either sit on the bench or have millions sitting on the bench when we have plenty of other needs....ILB, DE/DT, WR, RT all way ahead of a need than a safety. It would be great if the niners could get 2 started on D out of this draft. say Willis and a DE or DT in the 2nd would be nice.
I also can see us trading picks with the packers and picking up another 3rd in the process which would then allow us to package some more of our picks and get into the late 1st early 2nd round

I agree,
I also wouldn't mind Branch at #11 and trading back into the 1st to snag Jarrett

The niners board with people that might fall to them probably look like this
Branch
Willis
Okoye
Carriker
Trade Back

Long as they do not take Carriker with their 1st pick I will be happy. I think it will either be Branch or Okoye.
I really, really want them to trade those 2 3rd rounders and move up into the middle of the second and get Lamarr Woodley to play OLB. Woodley will be in the backfield all day causing all sorts of trouble. With Clements, Harris, Spencer, and Lawson at LB, the 49ers should be able to lock down some people next year but that only becomes plausable if they get a passrush. Woodley can be that guy.
DL, WR, OLB day one - we did a good job.
