I believe its a 53 man Roster and was just wondering if anyone thinks all our picks and FA's will make the team. This is the way i see it.

QB-Smith-Dilfer-Hill---3
RB-Gore-Robinson-Hicks---3
FB-Norris---1
TE-Davis-D.Walker---2
WR-Jackson-Battle-Lelie-Hill-Williams-Gilmore---6
LT-Jennings-Snyder---2
LG-Allen-Bass---2
C-Heitman-Wragge---2
RG-Smiley---1
RT-Staley-Harris-Estes---3
DE-Young-Oliver---2
DT-Franklin-Fields-Sopoaga-Cohen---4
DE-Douglas-McDonald-R. Green---3
OLB-Lawson-Moore-Buckwoldt---3
MLB-Willis-Smith---2
MLB-Moore-Ulbrich---2
OLB-Banta Cain-Harlyson---2
CB-Clements-Strikland-T.Brown---3
CB-Harris-Spencer---2
FS-Roman-K.Lewis---2
SS-M.Lewis---1
K-Nedney---1
P-Lee---1

One more player is not going to make the above list as Brian Jennings needs to be on there for Long Snap Duties. probably a reciever or a D-lineman will be replaced.

Then i think we get 10 on the practice squad
Dashaun Goldston-S
Thomas CLayton-RB
Billy Bajema-TE
Marcus Hudson-CB
BJ Tucker-CB
Damane Ducket-OL
CJ-Brewer WR
Taylor Jacobs-WR
Hanibal Naivies-LB
TJ Slaughter-LB

Good list. Thanks for doing that.

The only thing that stood out to me was that i would start Lewis over Roman at FS.

i play madden a lot, it honestly took me like 10-15 minutes. I like Lewis too instead of Roman, but as of right now, Nolan is starting ROman. You can probably expect some sort of a rotation throughout the game with those 3 though like last year. M. Lewis stuggles against the pass so on 3rd and long, hewill probably be coming out.

I'd imagine he's starting, but where is a question. They might even use him outside a lot.

Willis will end up starting by the start of the year. It wont just be handed to him though as Nolan likes players to earn a spot. The linebackers will often be shuffled to help them stay fresh througout the course of the game. Like goaline situation Lawson might come out as he might not be stout enough against the Run and a short situation

Smith is having eye problems!

Oliver is probably gone now, so Rayburn will replace him on the 53 man roster.

Our D-line is pretty set now at least for this year and a solid pick or 2 in next years draft on a D-lineman can set this defense up for years. Good Depth already.

Melvin Oliver is out for the year. And the Roster is 56 I believe. Naives, Clayton, and Goldson have a good shot at making the squad I'm thinking. Also they won't field 5 DE's I don't think. Unless Nolan does his rotating thing. Not to mention that is a lot of linebackers. Expect them to replace one of them with another O-lineman possibly, a Safety, or a TE.

Here's my guess. Guys in red will not make the 53

QB-Smith-Dilfer-Hill---2 (Getsy - Practice Squad)
RB-Gore-Robinson-Hicks Clayton---3
FB-Norris---1 (Keasey - Practice Squad)
TE-Davis-D.Walker---2
WR-Jackson-Battle-Lelie-Hill-Williams-Gilmore Maxwell---6
LT-Jennings-Snyder---2
LG-Allen-Bass---2
C-Heitman-Wragge---2
RG-Smiley---1
RT-Staley-Harris-Estes---3
LDE-Young-Oliver - PUP---2 Rayburn
NT-Franklin-Fields-Sopoaga-Cohen---2
RDE-Douglas-McDonald-R. Green---4 Fields
OLB-Lawson-Moore---2
Mike LB-Willis-Smith---2
Ted LB-Moore-Ulbrich-Bockwoldt---3
OLB-Banta Cain-Harlyson---2
CB-Clements-Strickland-T.Brown---3
CB-Harris-Spencer---2
FS-Roman-K.Lewis---2
SS-M.Lewis---2---Goldson
K-Nedney---1
P-Lee---1
LS - Jennings---1

I like what Nolan did with the O-Line considering we're losing 3 of them next year. There are guys that should be ready to step right in while getting some playing time this season in the offense. There's even still a chance that Allen retires this year.

Couple of recent notes:

*With the eye surgery correcting the vision issue from last year, Derek Smith appears to be the favorite to start, and for now Willis will be used primarily as the nickle pass rusher, though he is expected to on the field most of the time.

*Staley is expected to start at RT, but there are a couple concerns about his ability to make the transition this quicky.

Update on the "ideal" 53 man roster, plus the 10 practice squad.

QB-Smith, Dilfer, Hill-3
RB-Gore-Robinson-Clayton-3
FB-Norris
TE-Davis, Walker-2
WR-Jackson, Battle, Lelie, Williams, Jacobs-5
OT-Jennings, Estes-2
LG-Allen, Bass-2
C-Heitman-Wragge-2
RG-Smiley-Snyder-2
RT-Stayley, Harris-2
DE-Bryant, Rayburn-2
DT-Franklyn, Fields, Cohen, Sopoaga-4
DE-Douglas-Mcdonald-2
OLB-Lawson, J-moore,-2
ILB-Moore, Ulbrich-2
ILB-Willis, Smith, Buckwoldt-3
OLB-Banta-Cain, Haralson-2
CB-Clements, Brown-2
CB-Harris, Spencer, Goldson (emgcy 5th corner, more for SpeTeams n' S
FS-K. Lewis, Roman-2
SS-M.Lewis, Bing-2
LS-Jennings
K-Nedney
P-Lee

Practice Squad-remember there will be injuries so could be on team.

Hicks-RB
Hill- WR
Gilmore-WR
Navies-LB
Green-LB/DE
Bajema-TE
Steintz-OL
Getsy-QB
Hudson-CB
Duckett-OL

Tucker on IR.........Oliver on PUP

I like keeping Bing and Goldson on active Roster as we can possess one of the best Special teams in the league with them plus Killer, Ulbrich, and Buckwoldt all running down the field.

If its needed, could posssibly only carry 2 QB's on roster and carry another LB/DE or TE oR OL. I mean i guess we have Battle and Robinson in case of serious emergency at QB position.

Jason Hill won't get through waivers, so he's on. Jacobs could get rid of Williams if he can convince Nolan that catching punts won't be a problem.

Brown makes the team IMO. No need for Sean Hill. I think Sopoaga is toast, too. Fields may be able to play some nose in a pinch. But, he'll mainly be an end. Bing vs. Donald Strickland should be interesteing.

i didnt think you needed to make it through waivers to be on the practice squad?

Clayton's been fizzling so far in camp. So, Hicks may be safe.
