Week One Game Thread vs. Arizona

Post#1 » by Harry Palmer » Wed Sep 5, 2007 7:16 pm

Arizona Cardinals at San Francisco 49ers

Monday, Sept. 10th, at 10:15 PM ET (on ESPN, I think.)

Season opener, whoo-hoo! (legit whoo-hoo, not sarcastic whoo-hoo, too. Dr. Seuss is on line 2, hang on a sec.)

Post game info if you want, game discussion goes here.

I haven't been this excited for the Niners season in a long time...probably not since the late 90s. I am so curious to see how we come out week 1. It seems like we played really flat in the pre-season but that could be chalked up to 1) Nolan keeping a lot of the defensive and offensive plays under wraps, and 2) The games were played for situational practive rather than actual execution.

Either way, I think we will come out strong. We've lost to the Cards 4 in a row so its about time for redemption eh?

they also beat us twice the year before. so Nolan is 0-4 as HC vs the Cards.
Time to end that streak, Go Niners. I'll also be at the game.

To all you who will be at the game in person, I just wanted to say, from the bottom of my heart, I hate you with an undying passion.

Take care.

(Unless I get to come to SF some time, and need a place to crash/tickets to the game, in which case you are all the bees' knees.)

After seeing the subpar results of Stephen Jackson and LT, who didn't play in the preseason, I'm a little worried about Gore tonight. Plus, you just don't know how the hand is going to do. You know Zona is going to be targeting it when he carries the ball in that hand.

The play calling on the opening drive was...umm...conservative is the nice way of putting it.

Just got back from the game, traffic was a bitch. My thoughts

I am very happy with this result. I have decided to go with the optimist approach on how we look after this game. Our defense looked great, assured me BY has another solid season in him and Walt Harris too. Patrick Willis is of course the real deal, and probably sooner than later. Nate Clements was worth every penny, he's the glue that keeps everything together on that field even if he's not involved in as many plays as others, he can take a whole side away and gives added time to the blitz. Also, Frank Gore will do better, he's still young, not being 100% during much of training camp will cause a slow start, he'll only go up from here. Healthy is my concern with him, and he came out of this game fine, thus no worries. So, I'm pretty confident with all that, the real concern was Alex Smith, but here's the optimist part, I think leading that game winning drive will be the momentum he needs and earned my faith for next time, more impressive than the pass to Battle was the pass to DJax (Battle would've made that catch granted it was a tough one). OK obviously i'm a bit excited from the win, that's all of my rumblings for now.

Smith may of struggled throwing the ball but a true sign of a franchise QB is showing up in crunch time when your having a bad game and tonight he accomplished that.

I have seen high school football games that were not that ugly! That was an absolute pathetic game on national TV. Neither team deserved to win that game but I
