Here is to Brandon Albert falling to us in the first
and
Quentin Groves falling to us in the second.
I wish this would happen.
But since that is unlikely to happen I hope we just trade down and get an extra 2nd and 3rd round pick.

I think Groves could fall to us in the 2nd IF the Dolphins take a QB with their 2nd round pick...
I could also see the Dolphins switching their 2nd round pick with our 1st (while giving us a 4th or 5th round pick) and then we pick up Groves. If we could do that and get Carl Nicks in the 3rd round, I would be happy with those two picks. However, if Cherilus drops to us in the 1st, then I wouldn't be complaining too much, either. It will be interesting to see who we pick in the 2nd round, considering our 1st/2nd picks aren't too far apart.

Maiocco's blog wrote:]2:29 p.m.: The Falcons move up in a trade with the Redskins. The Falcons select OT Sam Baker (USC), and the 49ers are not at all disappointed.

Hopefully someone will try to move up and take one of the WR's.

alright so screw OLine in the 1st, who's the best DLine on the board?

Kentwan Balmer
If you can't get O-Line help, get D-Line help. Sounds like this guy can play NT or DE in a 3-4

DeSean Jackson fell hard...why his off-field issues that bad?

Ok picks. Nothing too exciting, and the negative persective might suggest that our top 2 picks are basically just replacing vets who left, so in that sense it's treading water on a bad team rather than getting difference makers...but neither pick was much of a reach or anything.
Not a draft to get me pumped up, but neither is it one to **** me off. Balmer reminds me a little bit of Dana Stubblefield. Sort of a vanilla, melba toast draft.

Next Round or so id like to see the possibility of Doucet, Manningham, Dan Connor ILB, or some blitzing LB. Hell, maybe an OT too, there are a lot still out there

I really can't find anything to like or dislike about this draft. Another average move by average people running an organization.

Average picks. They fill depth but thats about it and that could be a good thing. I think they'll target a LB at 75, possibly one of those hybrid pass rushers like a Cliff Avril or a strong side inside backer like Erin Henderson.

So Groves dropped all the way to pick 52. Gotta wonder why the Niners didn't draft him. Tons of drafts had him going to the Niners or at least in the 1st round/early 2nd. Ah well. Personally I think Balmer pick was a bit of a reach, considering most mock's had him going in the 2nd round, sometimes even late 2nd round. Could have been there for our 2nd round pick, but I guess the Niners didn't want to risk it.

I don't think Balmer was much of a reach. However, it is a head scratching move. I know they wanted depth on the DL but I think they could have found guys that fit the 3-4 much later in the process. They won't say anything but OL like Baker, Brown, and Cherilus going earlier than expected might have screwed their board around a bit.

I hope they're looking at Dennis Dixon (QB-Oregon) for one of their remaining picks.

Hawkins and Nicks were available at 107 and they went with Wallace? I really question this pick. So far, I can't find myself excited about anything this team has done through rounds 1-4.
