The case to draft Michael Oher

I'd be hard pressed to find someone like him, he very fast for a lineman and has the ability to play LT and could possibly be better than Jonathan Ogden, Oher will be a game changer for the 49ers if they were to get him.

I dont know much about him, heard good things though. It couldn't hurt to have a good LT that could attract a QB in the future. No QB wants to play for a team w/o any lineman right?

Now that Marvel Smith has signed, let's get Raji.

I don't think Raji lasts that long and the 49ers might move Sopoaga back to nose full time.

So whats the deal with Balmer? Is he not in plans for a starting job this year?

Thats one of the reasons why they will likely move Sopoaga back to NT. They expect Balmer to start at LE next season or at least split time with free agent signing Demetric Evans.

He's not a prototype NT, but he can be a backup. They need to draft a guy that can start right away. Since an OT likely won't be a starter this season, where do you think they should go?

I'm starting to think they trade back, unless Orakpo somehow falls.

One of the teams in the late teens could trade up with a nice offer and secure Sanchez at 10, while SF is a few picks back and has a chance at someone like Barwin(pass rusher) or Harvin(playmaker type). I'm not the biggest Harvin fan but thats a pick I could see them make, especially if Bruce retires.

They brought in Crabtree for a visit today. I doubt he falls to us, though. I guess there's always the possibility of trading up, but that doesn't seem likely nor prudent.

I really don't see the need to draft a WR early in the draft unless its a no-brainer. Crabtree would be a no-brainer, but only if Raji is off the board.

I like our WR situation with Bruce for one more year, and an emerging Jason Hill and Josh Morgan. Morgan looks like he could be a #1 guy if he can stay healthy and Hill looks like a solid #2. I'd rather wait and see after this season before reaching for a WR too early.

Morgan's evidently gonna get the starting nod, as of now. So, we'll see. I really got a new appreciation for Bruce after watching him last season. The guy simply catches EVERYTHING and is the consummate pro. First ballot. Glad he came back for one last hurrah.

I love the Niners young WR's. Brandon Jones sounds like he could be a good deep threat. If the Niners do trade down im not a big fan either but Percy Harvin would give them play making ability and speed that they lack.

If Raji is as good as everyone says he is (i.e. Shaun Rogers or Haloti Ngata level), than he should be the pick. A NT that can hold up against 2-3 blockers in a 3-4 defense just changes everything.

I don't like Sanchez. Really, is there any big difference between him and Leinart? Maybe Sanchez is not the nutjob that Leinart is but on the field, he had all day to pass, wide open receivers to throw to, and RB's that could make 2 yard passes into 20 yard gains.

If Raji's not there, I like Orakpo. Every Texas game I saw, even against the top teams, he was in teh backfield all game long. Guy is a freaking monster and would fit perfectly in a 3-4 as our Merriman esque pass rusher.

Yes, but problem is they're both likely to be gone...then what?
