It will be quite hard to shake me from the position that this pick should be used on anything but our QB of the future. I suppose, given the draft order, and where the chips are falling that day, that the Hawks' pick (assuming it's later in the first round than Denver's) could be used for fulfilling such a future need. I can't believe, however, that the right QB prospect won't be there for the taking with either of our two first round picks.

The way I see it, had we picked a QB this year with our first pick, we would have been ahead of the game. Next year we will be right about on time. Putting it off till the following year would represent us falling behind the curve in addressing this future need. JMO.

I'd be looking Safety right now, but that's a long time for things to change.

As John Clayton says, you don't pick a safety near the top of the draft board.

I'd spend a top 5 pick on a safety. Washington looked smart for taking Laron Landry, and Sean Taylor (RIP). I think Safety is the 2nd most important position in football, so yes I would spend a top 10 pick on one. Especially if it's Eric Berry.

The logic behind it is that safety plays 8 yards behind the line of scrimmage. That's why CB's and DLmen are usually held in higher draft esteem.

But QB is by far the most important position on the field. It's time to draft and begin grooming our QB of the future next spring. We'll have the power in next year's draft to do so.

I think drafting a QB of the future is a pretty good idea, but I just have this sneaking suspicion that Ruskell will fall in love with Tebow and take him with the Seahawks pick.

I've been saying how the only QB I really like is Bradford, I'd pass on Mccoy, and I'd pass on Tebow and I'm not that excited with Snead. That is, I'd be okay with taking Bradford with our early pick, and any of the others with our later one.

I hear you on Tebow. I'm obviously higher on McCoy than you are. I think he's going to have a great year, and move strongly up the draft board next year. I could be wrong. The thing I like about McCoy is also what is a bit scary about him, IMO. He has this enormous confidence in his ability to make-the-play, kind of Favre-like in that way. Exciting to watch.

I've seen a lot more of Tebow, McCoy and Bradford than I have of Snead, though I've read a bunch about Snead. What do I know? At this point, however, I'd be happy as shyt if we end up with either McCoy or Bradford in next year's draft, though I do want one of those two, at least until further notice and more input. I'd be willing to risk a glorious failure in an attempt to land a big time franchise QB for many years to come.

Well, I've just kissed the Mariners goodbye for the year, so I'm hoping that the Seahawks can provide some hope for me in a local team being competitive. I'm not much of a Sounders fan, no more Sonics, Husky football is looking up, but a few years away. Husky basketball has been about the only bright spot in Seattle sports of late.

I want to believe.

Taylor Mays has to show me he knows how to cover someone before he's worth a top 20 pick to me. Eric Berry, I would take at #1.

I know. I've watched most of the Sounders games just to listen to KC. I thought I was the only husky on this board! :-D

Mays is just praying for Al Davis to hang on for a year.

That said, although I agree that he needs to prove something before he's a top pick, there's a decent to good chance he does so. Some respectable sites have Mays ranked awfully high on their boards for 2010.
