Game: 9 'Hawks at Cards

Seattle goes into Arizona to take a desperate swipe at keeping their season alive. The 'Hawks will bring their sore armed QB, their surprise Middle Linebacker, and little tiny DB's to find some revenge for the embarrassing whoopass they suffered at Qwest vs the redbirds.


Injury update:

Seahawks-
Locklear (RT) is back, though McIntosh has played well enough to stay at LT for his 3rd game in a row. Hasselbroke is nursing a sore shoulder, but managed a team record for completions last game and should be in similar shape this week. Ken Lucas(CB) is sporting a sore neck(probably from watching all those big catches run past the other cornerback.

As we know: Walt Jones and Lofa Tutupu are done for the year.


Arizona
Chike Okeafor (DE) is probable with broke back syndrome, or maybe just general soreness. Boldin will be back in the lineup.

Things to Watch:

1-Damion vs Darnell. McIntosh finally gives us some stability at LT after being brought in off the streets, but he'll be facing the trash talking monster armed Dockett.

2-The running game... so far you could get better runs from Tijuana than behind the zone blocking scheme. Seattle abandoned the run last week. Will anything give this week?

3-The Card's home woes. Playing in AZ has been good for the visitor- will that trend continue?

This game really defines the season, doesn't it? Win away, and they're only a game back against a decent Cardinals team that's inconsistent. Lose, and the Cardinals have a three game lead and waltz into the playoffs.

I don't think we have a playoff team on our hands, but that doesn't mean I don't root for them to get there.

Halftime thoughts:

--Best I've felt about being a Seahawks' fan all year. By far.
--I agree with the guy who said that all a prevent defense does is prevent you from playing defense
--I love John Carlson
--Can we make Hawthorne a strong safety next year? Played it in college.
--Greg Knapp is getting better as a offensive coordinator. Finally.
--Did anybody else grin when Julius Jones went down with an injury? LOL

Let's see. I'd like to see some sacks and defensive TO's in the 2nd half.

The Cards are absolutely destroying themselves with penalties

That interception by Hasselbeck was REALLY stupid. Why? Why did he force that in? We needed 2 scores. A FG would have been OK there. We would have been down by 8, and could have tried an onside kick, or tried to stop them. At least had the game in a one score and 2 point conversion situation. I don't get that one.

Basically, this game came down to three missed scoring opportunities. The 1st and goal from the 1 in the second half and we only come away with a FG. The Hasselbeck INT with about 4:15 to go in the game. And then that bad snap, bobble, shuffle pass INT at the end on the 3 yard line. For Christ's sake. We left 10 points minimum on the field right there. We might not have won the game, but we didn't give ourselves a fighting chance to win it.

That's what frustrated me about this otherwise decent game that they played.

Hass seems to be flashing back to the poor decision making of his youth, and save one nice completion to Housh he had little to no touch on deep passes or the short fade. The shovel pass should've been eaten.

Overall, it was a tough loss, but the run blocking finally came together and Forsett/Ranking were a revelation. Having no pass rush really hurt, and I have to wonder if it isn't time to get Jackson/Reed on the field more and move Kearney to the bench since he's largely ineffective.

Hmmm if he can speed it up, that would be interesting. Though it makes me think of Bouleware.

Greg should be fine. I don't think he's a dud, but he had to alter his offense to please Matt and then again because Julius Jones and the line sucked.
