So, Kevin Kolb
Apparently Michael Vick is Superman now, or, if you prefer, Superman is closely resembling Michael Vick these days. Hard to see Philly not extending him with a big deal... any takers on Kolb? He looks like a good young QB that the Eagles may just not have a need for. Is he a trade possibility? I don't mean to write off Whitehurst so quickly, but... um... I'm not sure how else to finish this sentence. If we could somehow keep our first and offer some package of lower picks, I'd be all over it.

Re: So, Kevin Kolb
It depends for me. It depends upon where we end up in the draft order, who's still available to us of the QB's in the 1st or 2nd round, and what we'd have to give up to get him. I think he might be worth considering for a 2nd round pick package if we can't get one of the better QB's available in the first round. That's sort of how I'd approach it.

If we could burn a second rounder on Kolb, then use our first rounder to strengthen the line, I suppose I would be interested. I imagine the team will be willing to spend a little in free agency this year too.

QB has got to be addressed. If Seattle can keep there 1st its worth it.

Re: So, Kevin Kolb
Still, ideally, I'd like to get a potential future starting QB in the draft, you know Luck (doubtful), Mallet, Locker, or Newton if management deems one worthy of a 1st round pick, or one slides to them in the 2nd round (doubtful as of now). Ponder might, but we'd have to see if they like him there.
Then we could go with Hasselbeck for awhile longer, have Clipboard Jesus as backup, and bring the rook along a little more slowly till he leapfrogs CJ, and, hopefully, is ready and qualified to take the reins from Hasselbeck.
If we go the trade-for-starting-QB, I think we'd be looking for such a QB as Kolb to start, wouldn't we? I mean, why would we trade a high pick for a vet QB waiting in the wings to start and then not start him? Wouldn't that kind of signal moving on from Hasselbeck?
I don't know. Just future musings on the topic.

Re: So, Kevin Kolb
There will be a lot of competition for his services and do they trade or cut him?
I suggested this to seahawks.net a while back and got lambasted, but he has the big plus of being an immediate contributor while still young. That being said the mystique of growing a stud rooking find is more intriguing to the videogamer gm in me.
I would love to have Mallet or Locker or possibly Newton. Re Newton- not worried about him getting paid at all, it would be other things that would worry me, but not taking money. Just because he was caught he's being crucified, but tell me how many hard working successful players have taken dough and didn't get scrutinized who are active today in the NFL... I'm guess lots and lots.

Re: So, Kevin Kolb
Luck is the real deal, I think most of us are probably out here in Pac-10 country so we all know what he's capable of. But Buffalo's got to have him on lockdown already, I would imagine. I really do like Mallett, but I also fear for him behind this OL. Luck can move around quite a bit, Mallett is a statue. Hell of an arm, though. I'm really a loss after those two, though. I'd love to draft Jake Locker... in the 4th round to team with Earl Thomas for the best safety tandem in the NFL. Kid just isn't an NFL QB, IMO. Ponder has bust written all over him (again, IMO) and Newton I just can't get a read on. Could be great, could be Akili Smith. Defenses all over the SEC are down this year, big time (outside of LSU).
So assuming Luck is completely off the board by the time we pick, if Mallett doesn't fall to us I'd be all about trading for Kolb. He'll be 27 before the season starts, still young and he's done enough to convince me he'll make a pretty good QB. Continue to build up the OL and I think the Lynch/Forsett combo and the young WRs (with a re-signed Mike Williams) will help him out a lot.
