We're going to keep Hass as our starter??!! Unfreaking believable. I can't fathom a reason to do that including the playoffs only to get whooped by a team that didnt' back their way in. Boooooolcrap

Re: Game 14: Seahawks vs Atlanta
Carroll's always seen fit to bench players for performing poorly when he thought their understudy deserved a chance. And yet...he seems hesitant to use Whitehurst instead of Hass.
Despite personally investing more of the company resources in Whitehurst than Hass upon being hired, he still sticks with Hass. The older QB with a declining arm and decision-making process. Not the younger QB with the physical tools that seem like a better fit for Bates' offense.
When Charlie comes and plays relatively well, Carroll seems irked about Whitehurst's ability to get the offense on the same page, specifically the offensive line.
If there was ever any question about whether the Hawks would be looking to draft a QB this year, I think that question has been answered. The front office doesn't seem to view any of our QBs as the future of the franchise.

Re: Game 14: Seahawks vs Atlanta
I've come to think it's Charlie's personality that Pete doesn't like(it does translate to false starts etc...) but the tools look good. I think your right Pete is saying volumes about CBJ being perma backup and the draft will hold a QB for us, but-
I'm of the opinion/strong hunch, that Pete has another reclamation project in mind to compete with the rookie we draft- Leinart. He's a FA, he knows Pete's schemes, and he's had success with Pete. I'm scared of this possibility, though I would have laughed myself to death if you had told me Mike Williams would be our go to receiver this year, too.

That makes sense to me. Carroll's a very driven, energetic guy. Whitehurst seems to come across as a bit more laid back. I may be way off, but I wonder if Carroll looks at Whitehurst and Matt, and sees Matt as more of competitor.

That's a thought. I used to think Leinart was a strong possibility based on his connection to Carroll but I'm not sure now. His skillset wouldn't seem like a good fit for Bates' offense. But if he's on waivers would Pete give him a chance to compete for a spot on the club? Probably.
That said, his blindside tackle would be...Locklear? He wouldn't stand a chance!

hahah yes, well, Locklear is a FA at the end of the year. I would be surprised if he's here next year. Bleacher Report has us taking Nate Solder http://www.nfldraftscout.com/ratings/dsprofile.php?pyid=78371&draftyear=2011&genpos=OT

Re: Game 14: Seahawks vs Atlanta
A QB of the future is definitely a need...but we very well may be mediocre enough to cement ourselves firmly in the mid-late first round and miss out on the QBs worth drafting at that spot. Having two bookend stud tackles wouldn't be a bad thing, although I don't know squat about Nate Solder.
Not having a third round pick this year is going to hurt.
