Re: Free Agent Bonanza Thread
Well at least now with the new CBA if we do end up with a top pick and go QB the team won't have to shell out 50mil in guarantee on a rookie. Outside of Luck I'm pretty limited knowledge on top end QB but thats what the college season will clear up.
Anyways 2-3 could be delusional but hey thats what this time is about, I've got a whole 16 game season top have reality beat into me.

I think the same time last year, if you said we would go 7-9 and win a playoff game against the Saints, I would have called you insane. It's the unpredictability that makes me love football the most.

Re: Free Agent Bonanza Thread
Good news for those who want to draft Luck:
http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/seahawksblog/2015790601_seahawksresignkellyjenningsaddryansims.html
The guy has no business playing professional football, so of course we re-sign him and will probably throw him out as our #2 CB. Goddammit.
Cornerback Kelly Jennings will re-sign with the Seahawks, news first reported by Peter King of Sports Illustrated.
Jennings was chosen in the first round by Seattle in 2006, and he was a full-time starter in 2007 and 2010. He has started 44 games in his five seasons in Seattle.

Kelly will be used exclusively for conditioning purposes. They will strap him to the back of the O linemen during running drills for that extra 70lbs of dead weight.

Zac Miller got signed, I bet this will be Carlson last season with the team. It will be interesting to see how they both play and if we use dual TE packages.

Re: Free Agent Bonanza Thread
Stoked for Miller.. at 25 he's the 3rd leading TE in Raider history (receptions/td's)
Imagine the red zone lineup of Rice, Williams, Carlson, and Miller.... nice. Four 6'5" receivers

Re: Free Agent Bonanza Thread
Contract year and I don't expect Carlson back so he's got to be motivated to earn a good deal somewhere else. I don't know how much the Hawks have left in cap. But it might be better off to save whatever else their is of next off season, maybe on a corner.

It seems that they'd have about 14 million left in CAP from my figurings.

Re: Free Agent Bonanza Thread
One thing is clear with me. I don't want the Hawks giving up any of our future top draft picks for any such player in a trade. I want all of our top draft picks the next few years. If anything, we might need them to maneuver for a QB in the draft next spring, if we don't merely use most of them for things like upgrading our defense, or drafting a RB in addition to a QB.

Couldn't agree more, the team is still in the midst of a rebuild which makes those picks vital. Hopefully the failures of deals like Branch/Whiteheist will have scared of management away from those deals.

Raheem Brock resigns with us. I was kind of hoping for that. Played well for us last year.

Re: Free Agent Bonanza Thread
I don't know about everyone else but I'm feeling positive about how everything is going. LB and CB are my biggest areas of concern, but hearing Leroy Hill is healthy and looking very active, and that Browner's running with the first team and not giving Mike Williams any space. There's also training camps stories every year that create false hope, but it's fun to have the intrigue. Way better than having a roster full of question marks and just hearing about which player went down with an injury on a certain day.
Agreed. Now that the Giants are without a great starting TE, there's internet speculation about moving Carlson and a pick for Umenyiora. I'm not a fan of that idea...especially with Umenyiora refusing play either due to a knee injury that prevents him from playing or using a knee injury as an excuse not to report. We have good rotational depth at the position at the moment so hang on to the pick/Carlson since we'll need them both down the road.
Not only did he play well for us, but he played exceptionally well in the last half of the season when he got legitimate playing time and did so in non-blitzing formations. Sacks are great, especially when you don't have to blitz to get them. Brock had six sacks in the last five games of the season when he was starting. As a rotational DE, he's pretty good depth.

I'm going to have to watch Browner this preseason. It's been a long time since he was running around Corvallis, but that kid was slow. Freakishly tall for his position, but slow.

Re: Free Agent Bonanza Thread
Strange to say, but this could potentially be the most interesting WR/TE corp we've had since I can remember. Help me out here.
--Sidney Rice
--Mike Williams
--Golden Tate
--Ben Obomanu
--Deon Butler
--Kris Durham
--Zach Miller
--John Carlson
It certainly looks good on paper. Some targets, don't you think?

Re: Free Agent Bonanza Thread
totally- we're pretty unique in our size too. It's kind of like something somebody would put together in Madden.
Josh Porter keeps making some noise at QB, too. Already some talk he might take Charlie's spot at backup? wow if that's true idk what to say about Charlie.
