As much as preseason doesn't matter, this has been a bit of a letdown. The defense didn't seem to get much of a push against the run early.

Jermaine Kearse almost made a great catch. Maybe one of these days he'll pull one of those in.

I want to see what Michael can do when he hits a gap. He's not really getting a burst at the line.

Stephen Williams almost made a great catch. Maybe one of these days he'll pull one of those in.

Second unit defensive line has looked good. Mayowa and Howard have pressured the QB a couple times. Also edited this comment to give some credit to Lotulelei. He doesn't look like that big of a guy, but he's fast and he's closed well.

That'll teach me not to be a smartass...great catch by Stephen Williams! And a heck of a throw by T-Jack who looked pretty good on that drive.

And another long bomb to Stephen Williams! WOW!

Overall, that was a pleasant performance. I didn't see anyone get hurt, which is the main thing. Also, for all I've read about how good some of the young players looked in camp, this was my first opportunity to see many of them play. And many were as good as advertised. Mayowa got a lot of pressure on the outside, and Howard provided the same from the interior/other side. Michael's very talented and I can't wait to see how he looks once he gets comfortable with the offense. Same with Ware. I wish I focused more on Alvin Bailey because the praise for him on Twitter is impressive. Lotulelei looked great on defense and special teams.

The first units looked flat--but who cares? It's the first two series of the pre-season. There's some kinks to work out.

T-Jack looked very solid. He looked smooth and under control. His arm strength is legitimate. Mack Strong used the term "poise" in the post-game show, which was apt. Tarvaris isn't a full-time starting QB but as a backup with twice the talent on offense as he had two years ago, I think he looks like a good fit.
