Game 1 of the 2010 season features as many new faces for a franchise as anyone can remember in Seattle. There's an old familiar feel, though, as the Hawks will have a new temporary left tackle protecting Hasell's back. Preseason has ended and now we can really being optimistic(that we'll lang Locker). In all seriousness there's home pride on the line and every dog has it's day, so why not give the 9ers the the same taste Tyson felt after Buster Douglas in Tokyo? Go 'Hawks- you are undefeated! (as of friday before the game)

Injury update:

Seahawks-
Russell Okung(LT) out. Pitts (knee), tight end Anthony McCoy (ankle) and defensive end Raheem Brock (back) were limited in practice.

49ers
Amhad Brooks(LB) out with lacerated kidney(don't chew the bottle after you drink the beer)
Heitmann(C) out fibula, K Williams(WR) out toe.

Things to Watch:

1-LT again. Tyler Polumbus will make his 9th career start and first at LT. Certainly the TE's will be in max protect and give him a hand and certainly the 9er D will be blitz happy.

2-Forsett finally gets a start. He's going to have to make miracles happen to have any kind of real production behind and line featuring new bookends, but he was the most elusive runner in the NFL last year.

3-Mike "Mafackle" Williams. Assuming Matt has any time to throw at all can Mike continue to look like the comeback story of the year? His size will be a problem for the opposing secondary and they were a weak point in a strong defensive unit last year.

4-Leo DE's- pressure or pansies? Red Bryant- Big DE or small detour?

5-Pete's pump-ometer can he enthusiastic his way to an overachieving team? Better yet, does he make good calls in clutch situations?

6-Inexperienced 49'ers O line. If the 12th man isn't rusty it could be a long day for Davis, Iupati, and a backup center. This is probably the Hawks best chance to keep Gore from being a large factor if we can force the offense to the air and our secondary holds up with a little help from some pass rush.

Predictions-

17-24 49ers. The Seahawks get a couple big plays on screens and special teams to score a few points, but mostly drives go nowhere leaving San Fran with a short field to march down.

30-13 49ers. I don't think our offensive line is good enough to deal with the 49ers defense. Hass will feel pressure and not much will happen in the running game.

My God...first play from scrimmage, Hass floats a ball into zone coverage for an easy pick. That ball had no zip on it.

I gotta say that the first offensive play from scrimmage this year being a Hasselbeck INT just doesn't look good for our fortunes.

It was a daisy just waiting to be picked.

At least Alex Smith sucks as much as ever.

You know, Earl Thomas is going to be one fun player to watch. We've been lacking in players who are fun to watch. This guy's that. Yes, he's small, but God he's quick and fast and got a bloodhound's nose for the ball. I love this guy already.

The defense is playing well. They're being pushed to the brink but they are holding. The offense REALLY needs to put a drive together here just to give the defense a little rest heading into the locker room.

But it's already 3rd and 5 as soon as I type that...

Agreed. And when Chancellor came in for the goal line stand he made a difference. Once that kid learns the game little better we could have a highly entertaining safety tandem.

Bailed out by a CHEAP pass inteference call where Branch was the one doing the holding. That pass should have been picked too Matt!

Well, it's going to be a game after all. If we can stop their run, Smith isn't going to beat us like a rug. That's for sure.

I hope SF tries to get some points now. Smith is liable to serve up another one. lol

One decent punt return away from a FG opportunity.

My God this game has turned so incredibly quickly. And I don't know why I fall into the trap of believing the Niners will every be anything so long as A. Smith is their QB. Thank God their defense is good enough to prevent them from getting Locker. ;)
