Game 16 (Where's Darko?) THE EFFING TOILET BOWL!

Post#1 » by Bulltalk » Sun Jan 2, 2011 6:17 am

I sorta wanna win sorta wanna lose sorta mixed up about this one as I am a competitive f*ck and I always want to win except this one is freaking out my otherwise always want to win competitive logic and can't help fantasizing about an outrageous series of upsets that take us to the Super Bowl as I can't help fantasizing about getting a corn fed DE who will ruin QB's and a franchise QB who will take us to multiple Brady like Super Bowl victories and I can't make up my mind and what in the hell is this game about anyway and what happened this season and what will happen next season and forevermore?

Go figure.

Thoughts?

PS> I love all my fellow Seahawk fans here (and where the eff is Hippie anyway?). :)

I hate myself because I'm just not able to root against the teams I love... thus I'd rather take the win tonight and get smoked by the Saints next week over putting ourselves in a better position to take a new QB, which would obviously benefit the franchise a lot more long-term. It sounds even more stupid when I type it all out, but I guess that's why 'fan' is short for 'fanatical'. At least the losses are easier to take when there's some upside to them.

I miss Darko's game thread, too, I giggle like a little school girl every time he puts up that picture of a lamb when we play St. Louis.

Dammit Darko...

I feel bad because I too appreciate the effort he puts into the gamethreads [and they always get me to laugh]...just wish more people posted here and showed their appreciation.

I know full well as much as I've griped about the Seahawks and not believing they deserve to win, and about wanting a good draft pick, when the game starts and Collinsworth starts to tell America how bad the Seahawks are I'll want them to shut him the **** up. Go Seahawks.

Seeing how our game was moved to the late game today, and that there is no Monday night game this final week of the regular season, we'll technically know what our draft position will be before this game begins depending on our winning or losing the game.

As of now (before tie-breakers are considered), these 6 teams will definitely be ahead of us in the coming draft if we do lose this game:

--Carolina
--Denver
--Cincinnati
--Buffalo
--Cleveland
--Either San Francisco or Arizona

That would put us tied for the 7th pick by record if we lose this game before the tie-breakers kick in. Currently, we are the 11th pick in the 1st round. If we lose this game, these teams will definitely share the same 6-10 record as us:

--Detroit
--Minnesota
--Either San Francisco or Arizona

These teams *could* end up with the same 6-10 record as us if we lose this game before the tie-breakers kick in, depending upon the outcomes of their games:

--Tennessee
--Dallas
--Washington
--Houston

I believe we are ahead of these teams in the tie-breaker scenarios:

--Tennessee
--Washington
--Minnesota

So it seems that if we lose, and finish tied with a 6-10 record with a handful of teams, we could be vying with these teams with the tie-breakers for a higher draft pick:

--Detroit
--Either San Francisco or Arizona
--Dallas
--Houston

Depending upon how the tie-breakers shake out, we would be, at worst, the 11th pick should we lose this game, and at best the 7th pick (not knowing how many of the above teams we would leapfrog if we lose and if these above teams finish at 6-10).

Basically speaking, by game time, someone will know what pick we will have if we lose this game, either the 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th, or 11th pick. So the difference between winning and losing this game as it stands now (without the tie-breakers applied yet) will be the difference between the 7th-11th pick in the first round, and, in all likelihood, the 21st pick if we win the game. That's some 10-14 spots higher in the draft if we lose the game, as opposed to winning it.

That's what we're talking here, boys. How important is that much of a leap in the first round, and higher slottings in the later rounds?

This is what being a Seahawk fan has reduced me to this year.

UPDATE: Apparently with Detroit beating Minnesota, we've moved up to the 10th pick in the draft if we lose today. Now we have to find out whether or not we leap-frog any of these teams...

--San Francisco (6-10)
--Dallas (6-10)
--Houston (6-10)

...IF we lose today. Have to figure out the tiebreakers with these 3 teams. Could we be a 7th,8th, or 9th pick with a loss today? I guess we'll soon know.

UNOFFICIAL UPDATE: I read on a football site that the Seahawks win the tie-breakers with Dallas, San Francisco, and Houston IF we lose today. This is entirely unofficial, and you can update me if I'm wrong. If this is correct (and correct me if I'm wrong), then IF we lose today we're the 7th PICK IN THE DRAFT!

If this is true, gentlemen, fellow Seahawk fans, what is it for you?

WIN = 21st pick (in all likelihood)

LOSS = 7th pick (if my information is correct)

That's a difference of 14 draft spots, a chance at perhaps the 2nd best QB in the draft, or the 2nd best DLman in the draft, or perhaps the best OLman in the draft, or some other option. Also, we will pick higher in the other rounds than I previously thought, which, at least in the 2nd round, could yield us a more significant talent upgrade at a needed position.

Really, what's truly best for this organization in the long run? I think a loss is. I have to say it. Of course this assumes we would draft well.

Nice throw, Chuck. Way to avoid being rattled by the blitz.

7th or 21st ? Wow. I guess there IS a big difference between 6-10 and 7-9, lol.

7-0 Hawks! Whitehurst looked good. Safe throws = good throws! Qwest sounds hyped up, too.

We get a TO and TD here, this game could start snowballing irreversibly our way with the home town crowd and all.

Not so good on the second drive... Horrible pass on the rollout, then a wasted timeout. Things don't seem successful when he starts thinking out there.

CBJ has just got to man-up out there. Just tune things out and be his own QB. Is that possible with this guy? He has so little IT-factor.

Speaking on manning up...isn't the running game tires of being embarrassed each week? Maybe that's why Bates likes long passes in short yardage situations.

The emotion has faded, Rams are driving...our run defense is porous once again.

I posted this in the other thread:

By the way...this is what I'm reading now about the draft (slight correction, still not certain this is right):

No. 1: Carolina Panthers

No. 2: Denver Broncos

No. 3: Buffalo Bills

No. 4: Cincinnati Bengals

No. 5: Arizona Cardinals

No. 6: Cleveland Browns

No. 7: San Francisco 49ers
 (tie?)
No. 8: Seattle Seahawks (tie?)

I read that the 49ers and Hawks have identical strength-of-schedule tiebreakers...but then it says it goes to divisional and conference records...which one takes precedence? We would have a worse division record than them if we lose, but they would have a worse conference record if we lose. Add them together (do they do that? Can't find the info...) and we are both an identical 8-10. Next tie-breaker is a coin flip. Maybe we're a coin flip with the 49ers.

In any event, it seems we're either a 7th or 8th pick in the first round if we lose. They reverse the order in the 2nd round of the teams with the same records.

You're right. That's why I thought it was key if the Hawks could ambush them early. No avail.

What a freaky thing. The guy was pretty much injury free in college. He just needs an off season, methinks. Or I hope so.

Another costly fumble for Lynch. He's been a giant bust...seemed like a decent trade at the time, but we have very little to show for it.

Bradford just has no targets. His receivers are as bad as our cornerbacks.
