Game 11: Seahawks vs Washington

VS.

The Seahawks are thankful to come home to the Clink feeling pumped and also jacked after starting to realize Papa Pete's formula of huge athletic guys erasing the run, badgering receivers, and blowing people up on defense. Teams in the last few weeks have abandoned the run and gone to the passing game only to find two big boat anchors playing bump and run pretty effectively while two safeties patrol the full length of the field from the line of scrimmage to deep outs like anti aircraft fire.

Missing the right side of the line was tough for the seahawks, particularly at left guard, where Paul McQuistan was called for repeated penalties. Still Beastmode beat out yardage, and the Hawks came away feeling they might be able to get happy with their record (potentially screwing all draft plans despite the obvious need at QB).

Injury update:

Image

Seahawks-

Questionable
DT Alan Branch (ankle)
CB Byron Maxwell (ankle)
Probable
S Atari Bigby (hamstring)
DE Anthony Hargrove (hamstring)
QB Tarvaris Jackson (pectoral)
WR Ben Obomanu (knee/ankle)
WR Sidney Rice (knee)

Washington

Questionable
WR Niles Paul (toe)
WR Donte Stallworth (foot)
Probable
LB London Fletcher (ankle)
OT Jammal Brown (groin)
S DeJon Gomes (knee)
OG Maurice Hurt (knee)
OT Sean Locklear (ankle)
OT Trent Williams (knee)
CB Josh Wilson (hamstring)
LB Keyaron Fox (infection)
S LaRon Landry (Achilles)
WR Santana Moss (hand)

Things to Watch:

1-Momentum.
This could be trap game, or if Seattle rolls this could be a be bridge to a feel good sense of growth for the Seahawks despite the stacked schedule.

2- Kam's wallet
Kams been playing for free the last few weeks due to his hard to avoid helmet hits. Seattle need vicious Kam, not feeling the burn of the financial sting Kam.

3-Run Forrest!
Lynch is running for a contract at this point. I expect him to see enough snaps to grab a hundred yard game, but we know this is also a good defense.

4-Turnover City
You have to make Rex cough it up. The Seahawks are getting better at that.

5- Shanna-hansel
Mike didn't think Okung was as good as Trent. I expect Russ to have something to prove.

Predictions-
Seattle 17 Washington 10

Drive kept alive by Browner getting handsy [on a WR who was well covered] and getting a defensive holding call, and now somehow a Rex Grossman lead offense is driving down the field against our defense. Defense looks a little sluggish early, and the crowd is deathly quiet.

Urgh...and the pressure's a tad late, leading to a huge completion to Fred Davis to the 2 yard line. Aren't we better than this?

Jesus they are tearing us apart on bootlegs, crossing routes, and play action. And they're running up the middle at 5 yards per clip. Maybe not a coincidence that the defense is laying an egg with Alan Branch on the inactive list.

Isn't Washington supposed to be awful?

Yep. Watching their offense put up 170 or so yards on us in the first quarter was a shock.

Oh, what a nice pick by Browner! Seeing Josh Wilson on the opposite sidelines makes me think that's a pick only Browner could've made due to his height and ability to jostle the reciever a bit to get into position to make the play.

And a nice screen to Lynch! TD Seahawks! Looks like the right side of the line did its job...

wow this is a scrappy game.

Washington has a good D and then it gets down to Rex making bad decisions.

Is it just me or is Tarvaris done? i think that arm went out on him and I've seen him under throw every pass since

And still, the coaching staff thinks he's a better option than Charlie. Poor Charlie...

His arm looked OK on that pass to Rice a second ago, but unfortunately Rice looks like he took a shot to the head and dropped the pass.

Jeez...the shot to the head Rice simply planting face first into the turf. Now he's off to the locker room.

TJ is just so bloody mediocre at best. I heard he's a real nice guy, so I don't want to lay a big crap on his head; but I most certainly do want a better QB, and that shouldn't be *too* hard to find.

Mediocre's better than I thought he'd be. When the season started I thought we had the worst starting QB in the league, but instead he's probably about average.

A gift PI flag where BMW dropped another deep ball. Our offense is going to stall but at least we should get a cheap FG out of it.

K.J. Wright gets flag for a personal foul on a "high hit to the quarterback" where he shoved him in the chest as the ball was released. It wasn't called as a blow to the head, mind you, so it's not as if the ref was mistaken about what he saw. No...Wright was specifically flagged for hitting the QB "high." Which begs the question: Where are you supposed to hit him?

Bring back Tagliabue...

Ha...then Tate gets flagged on a TD celebration for "going to the ground in the endzone." So falling down is a penalty but, say, doing a slam dunk off the goal post is perfectly fine? This nonsense is getting out of control.

Nice job, T-Jack. There's 8 defenders in the box, all of the coming and everyone knows it, and you decide to hold on to the ball and take a sack to cement a loss.

I take my comment back. The way Tarvaris dealt with pressure this last half is just about the worst thing I've seen a QB. Then on the last drive of the game he stares down Forsett and nearly gets him killed on a dump off, overthrows Baldwin on what would be a nice completion, then rifles an INT to end the game. Just awful.

I will never understand why TJ just didn't put-it-up on 4th down rather than pathetically taking that sack? WHAT DID HE OR THE TEAM HAVE TO LOSE IN TRYING? That represents such a lack of circumstantial awareness that I will never feel comfortable with TJ as our QB.

And yes Sweez and TTown, mediocre-at-best was quite a reach.
