Game thread sponsored by: The 12th Troll
Injury update:
Seahawks-Returning will be Moffit(G), and James Carpenter (G)
Tate (WR) & Okung (LT) might be ready
Rice (WR) is battling a knee injury but expected to go.
CowflopsPhil Costa (C)
Things to Watch:1. Wilson's ahhh growth
I expect a little more from DangeRuss this week.
2. Offensive Line
Moffit has to be better than Sweezy, but our LT position feel lacking be in a gimpy Okung vs Ware or Frank Omiyale vs Ware.
3. Tate/Edwards
One of these guys has to get more done and help Russ out as the pressure caves in.
4. False Starts vs PI
We need to win the war of penalties, especially at home
5. Pass Rush
Clem still looks like Clem, but where is Jones and Bruuuuce?
Predictions-17-20 Dallas

I'm a little concerned about this game. While it will be nice to see the team play a home game, I am also concerned at the potential depth we may or may not have. Okung, Rice, Miller, and Tate all seem to be banged up. Wilson will need all the help he can get on offense, and I worry about how much help he will get.

Defense please play like the 3rd Quarter the entire game. It could be a blowout loss, it could be a coming out party for the defense against a pretty crappy O-Line.

Is this a must win?

(I mean to be, say, a 10 win team, may be even a 9 win team)

I was hopeful for a ten win season if everything went right but I was counting on the Hawks beating the Cards too. Their schedule isn't a cakewalk. And honestly this game could go either way.
Dallas looked really good opening night against the Giants. Dallas always seems to be such a mercurial team. I wouldn't be shocked if they came up here and blew out the Hawks or if the Hawks stomped them like a narc at a biker rally.
I expect the Hawks "D" will be able to at least keep them in the game. If Dallas blitzs the Hawks like the Cards did there could be more growing pains for DangeRuss. And I swear if Okung keeps leaving early he is going to really piss me off. He left early so many times last game and fortunately he only got called on a handful of them. Not sure why the refs didn't flag him more.

Good news! Okung's inactive, so he won't pick up any false start penalties today! I'm sure this guy behind him, Frank Omiyale, will do just fine lining up against Demarcus Ware...
Wilson better have his head on a goddamned swivel.

That was a very satisfying win. The special teams definitely set a tone early by forcing two turnovers and scoring a TD. The defense was better on paper than it seemed. Too often the team fell into a zone and got picked apart on 3rd and long. The pass defense didn't generate many sacks but they did put pressure on Romo and make him move around to try and make plays.
The offense wasn't thrilling, but I think this is EXACTLY the kind of offense Pete wants. The offensive line was very physical, the running game was solid, and the passing game was efficient. They definitely won the turnover battle. Turbin may not get a ton of carries but I really like seeing the team using him to give Lynch a breather. The drop-off doesn't seem nearly as dramatic as it did late year.
Wilson seemed very tentative early but definitely got more comfortable as the game went along. I like his decision making process...there were a couple plays he made where he scrambled and dumped the ball off that were extremely effective.
McCoy really exploded today. THAT was basically what I hoped Winslow would provide. It's a shame Wilson missed Evan Moore high early, but it's cool seeing the TEs start to get a chance to contribute. That 3 TE split wide set was dynamite--DAL didn't seem to know what to do with it, and Wilson found McCoy for a wide open TD.
I also don't feel as bad about the Arizona loss given what they did to the Patriots today. Considering how the Rams played today and how the 49ers have been playing, this seems like the new 'black and blue' division. All four defenses are very physical and I don't see any team as a pushover right now.

Wow nice win. Amazing job from the special teams to set the tone. Wilson seemed to struggle in the first half to really find a rhythm, leaving the defense out there to play most the first half. But damn, the second half was fantastic.
The "D" is TOUGH!

Beat me to the submit button.
However I agree the "D" got picked apart some in the first half but overall I think they did a great job. But that 3 and 10 that they coughed up was pretty inexcusable.

Can someone with a DVR explain to me the Sweezy Moffit exchanging? I know that td run was all Moffit, but did Sweezy do good things on the run? He def looked more solid in pass protection, but i noticed they subbed them out pretty constantly in the second half especially
and for your enjoyment:

Early on it appeared the team was putting in Sweezy for running series, and Moffitt in for series where they were passing more. It's hard to tell if that pattern held true for the whole game but they definitely seemed to follow that pattern in the first half.
As a whole, the line did a damn good job yesterday. Wilson seemed to have way more time in the pocket than he did in Week 1. I can't say enough about Omiyale. To come in and play LT against one of the best pass rushers in the history of the game and make him a non issue is a staggering accomplishment.
Probably not enough has been said at this point about Golden Tate. PC has raved about the guy for awhile now, but I don't know if they've ever known how they were going to use him. He's an odd mix: Undersized [in terms of height], but elusive and very physical. Yesterday, I feel like they used him similarly to how the Vikings use Percy Harvin. They used him all over the field, and tried to get him the ball in the middle of the field and in open space so he could try and do something. It may not have shown up in the box score [3 catches, 38 yards] but he had a big impact on the game even if you ignore his huge block.
Speaking of the block...I don't enjoy reading the pissing and moaning by people saying the block was dirty or it put Sean Lee's health at risk. I can see the arguments for those saying it was clean, and those saying otherwise, which means it's borderline. Yeah, it sucked for Sean Lee, but damn if it didn't feel good to see a WR protecting his QB.
