Playoff Game 2: Falcons vs Seahawks

VS.

The Bird Bowl aka Angry Birds

The Seahawks have proven they can win away from South Alaska and they will need to do it again vs an interesting matchup with Atlanta's dynamic receiver set.

Injury update:

Image

Seahawks-

DE Chris Clemmons is out with a torn ACL.

Falcons

DE John Abraham (ankle) was limited all week.

Things to Watch:

1. Legion of Boom vs White, Jones, and Gonzalez
Good matchup here and one with a bit of history between Sherman and Jones.

2. BRuuuuuuuuce
Clem is out so our unlikely 1st round pick is the man on the edge now. Best summed up this way, I think: Don't bring me down.....Brrrruuuce
http://youtu.be/qj8kMmUxkSE?t=1m10s

3. Russelmania II
Last rookie standing....always the talk of the Hawk. What does he have in store for us this week?

4. Long Kicks
Longwell takes over for Hauschka. He doesn't have a real big leg, so hopefully we don't need any 45+ yard field goals

5. Defensive turnovers
We've basically proven forcing turnovers is half of our late season success. C'mon Sherm, C'mon Browner, C'mon fumble recoveries. Take it to the house.

Predictions-
Seattle 24 Atlanta 21

biggest key to this game is the running game, which for seattle is the biggest key every week. but we dont want ATL offense on the field like we allowed WAS last week in the first quarter. its not about quick strikes this week its about ball control. the more first downs we get the better, and against a sub par defense like the falcons it is certainly possible to control the clock.

The Niners just won and have advanced to the NFC Championship game. The Seahawks winning seems like fate.

I think we match up with the Falcons extremely well. They have tall WR and a good passing game? Well we have tall cornerbacks who are as equipped as anyone to give that kind of offense hell. Their running game does not concern me. Their running defense does not concern. Their pass defense does not concern me. So long as we can rein in their passing game, we have a chance.

Anyone concerned about Clemons being out? Considering Atlanta like to pass and he's the Hawks most reliable pass rusher, that scares the heck out of me.

Now that Roy Williams is out of the league, can we get rid of that horse collar penalty?

My goodness...our defense is being embarrassed right now. If we give up another TD here I don't see how we can come back from that. Russell looks rattled...

Nice stop by Browner. We held them to a field goal. Now we HAVE to answer with a score to stem the bleeding and give the defense a break.

all of our fears about getting to ryan are coming true.

brutal turnover by lynch earlier, even more brutal playcalling by bevell and carroll on a redzone possession that led to no points, and no points on the final redzone possession of the half. what a cluster...

That last possession was abysmal. The one thing--ONE THING--you cannot do in situation is give up or take a sack. So of course that's what we do.

The Lynch fumble, the lack of a pass rush, a gashed run defense, a skittish QB...it's all awful.

The game could be over after this drive. Atlanta is chewing up the clock and has a chance to make it a three possession game.

And it's a three possession game. Nice job, "elite" defense!

Oh, my God...so 25 seconds away. We cannot let the Falcons get in FG range in the dome.

Return to Seattle Seahawks
