It was a great season, and there's far more reason to be encouraged than discouraged. When we made it to the Super Bowl in '05, we had a veteran team that fell off not long after. This year? Second youngest roster in the league.

We have a rookie QB who had a phenomenal season. Two good RBs in Lynch and Turbin. A WR/TE corps that's not lights out but definitely gets the job done. A workman-like offensive line than can soundly run block and pass block.

The defense? Good, but not elite. Our defensive backfield can take on anyone. But there's still some holes. We have openings in the slot. The pass rush isn't good enough, and the run defense oddly spotty. Some of those things can possibly be dealt with internally: A healthy WTIII [if there is such a thing] and a more experienced Jeremy Lane might be able to take care of that slot coverage issue. Bringing back Jason Jones helps with the pass rush.

At the top of my offseason wish list is a pass rush specialist DT and a better weapon at WLB.

Hopefully our team doesn't fall off the cliff next year. Seattle sports team have a tendency of slowly becoming abysmal after a breakout season. The 2001 Mariners come to mind, along with the Sonics team that beat the Kings in the playoffs back in 2005 only to fall to mediocrity the next year. We played this year with zero expectations and pressure. It's easy to win when no one expects you to give them a fight. Next year is going to be tougher for us because we won't be surprising anybody. Title contending teams are characterized by their ability to live up to pressure and continue to perform. The one thing we have going for us is the fact that we're a young team so lets hope we can hold onto our pieces and not lose them to free agency.

I'm also still not 100% sure about Wilson. It's really difficult when trying to predict what type of career he is going to have, but I wouldn't at all be surprised if he had a sub-par sophomore year compared to his rookie year. His rookie numbers are almost too good to be true in my mind so I'm very skeptical to say the least. If he puts up even better numbers next year then he is 100% legit in my eyes so we'll see.

Anyway, we're still the best NFL fans in the country so the Seahawks will always have the greatest HFA in all of pro football. GO HAWKS!

Grab a big run stuffing DT, a go-to receiver and more OL, and there you go.

Go Seahawks

i'm on the opposite end of the spectrum regarding wilson, i'm 100% sold. i think spending money to bring in another qb to compete for the job/drafting anyone with high(ish) pick would be irresponsible. wilson's the tits. a lot of sophomore quarterbacks hit a wall when the playbook expands, but that seems like the last thing wilson will struggle with. dude has all the intangibles.

i get how being a seattle sports fan could leave one jaded, but this is the second youngest team in the nfl. defense and running the football don't go out of style.

and the mariners won 93 games in 2002 and 2003, they just played in the same division where the angels won the world series and billy beane was in his golden age in oakland. sorry, just a pet peeve. 2001 wasn't the last really good mariner team, just the last to make the playoffs.

I'm completely sold on Wilson. You can see the growth from game to game, whether you're looking at the post-game stats on paper or just watching it live. I've never watched a Seahawks' QB that I felt could become an elite player until this year. Any problems I have with Wilson's game are minimal.

Sometimes he pulls the ball down and scrambles instead of reading a guy downfield, but when he averages 5.2 yards a carry that's a minor gripe. Sure, it would be nice to hit Sidney Rice in stride down the field every time, but a scramble for 8 yards doesn't really disappoint me. He's not pulling the ball down and taking a sack like Hass often would, or scrambling without a plan and taking a loss while going out of bounds like Seneca Wallace.

The big concern I had with Wilson was his size, and I'll be damned if half the time he uses that as a weapon more than a detriment. He's a stocky little dude who knows how to escape pressure and avoid big hits.

Flynn is an asset and should be treated as such, and imagine he has no issue with that. Missing out on a starting job this year had to be extremely disappointing for him. Schneider was pretty upfront about it today on XM radio, indicating the team would look to move him. I would not be surprised if we deal him to a team like the Chiefs, Cardinals, Jaguars, Jets, Vikings, or Bills for a 3rd-5th round pick.

Return to Seattle Seahawks
