My guess is he's going to start at either Guard or Center (if they cut Britt). Likely taking Iupati's spot.

I want to hope Iupati is done being a starter. Even though he graded well in the run game, he was awful in pass protection and racked up penalties. I would restructure Britt if possible.

With Reed (9.5m) & Finney (3.5m) on the Books. They currently have $20m in cap space. Releasing Britt would save an additional 8.5m against the cap. Cutting Ed Dickson will save them 3m. Should they sign Clowney & another DE.

We have a new RT!

George Fant had an overall grade of 62.2 & ranked 57th (PFF). So, I guess this means it's a slight upgrade.

Fant got 3 years/30 million vs. Shell= 2 years/11 million & according to PFF they rank very similar.

Add another!

This guy was a Bust for the Bengals. Not a fan. It seems Pete & John are going cheap on the line again. :nonono:

Ogbuehi was part of the same Texas A&M offensive line as Germain Ifedi, whose future in Seattle looks very much in doubt based on the Shell signing alone. Chosen 21st overall in the 2015 NFL Draft, Ogbuehi earned the starting spot at right tackle in 2016 and then replaced Andrew Whitworth at left tackle in 2017. I hate to break the bad news to you, but he was terrible at both spots and was a healthy scratch for much of 2018.

After the Bengals declined to pick up his fifth-year option, Ogbuehi spent his 2019 with the Jacksonville Jaguars as a reserve tackle, appearing in 14 games total on both offense and special teams.

At best, Ogbuehi is going to be depth/swing tackle option and ideally he isn’t starting whatsoever. Otherwise, he’s going to be competing for a roster spot.

Well...Let's hope he doesn't get too much playing time. The guy has been a turnstile. I guess a positive is that it's only a 1 year deal.

Gurley was cut too. I'd rather bring him in. Matthews is mostly done.

Sounds like that phone call is going to happen on Gurley, and also that Ngakoue is still ongoing convo.

I know Ifedi isn't popular among fans. But, depending on the money he got. I'm assuming it's not a whole lot (1 year). I think it likely is a mistake to let him go. His replacement doesn't look like an upgrade at all. Maybe Shell will have less penalties. But will give up more pressures. I'm not sure the trade off is that great imho.

I will add that it could be a potential disaster (again) if Ogbuehi gets any significant playing time at one of the tackle spots. Not just as an extra TE (Jumbo package). My intuition very rarely disappoints. Again, this is one of those scenario's where "Be careful what you wish for" might apply here. :(

I'm guessing we get aggressive in the draft for a RT.

Right now:

LT- Brown
LG- Finney (or center if they drop Britt)
C- Britt
RG- Fluker
RT- Shell

I disagree that Shell is worse at anything than Ifedi:

I also think we might take a long Cordy Glenn the Bengals RT who was far superior to Ifedi last year, but shouldn't break the bank.

It seems that Britt is going to stick around.

Either Ogbuehi or Jamarco Jones is slated to be the Swing Tackle (Fant replacement). But Jones struggled as a Tackle & has performed better as a Guard. This is still a huge concern for me. Ogbuehi was way in over his head in prior stops. Not a good omen.

At Guard they have Finney & Fluker as starters. Haynes, Warmack & Pocic as backups. Quality depth.
