I wouldn't be surprised to see Pitt move up for a QB they like ahead of us and for JS to gamble yet again on moving down...

No, **** that. You have the 9th pick overall. Take the best damn player available. Don't fall into that trap.
They haven't had a top 10 pick in 12 years (2010). They can't mess around & **** this up.
Assuming they don't trade it. My biggest worry is that they reach for a QB. They are in the perfect spot now to land an impact player.
I'm intrigued with a few guys so far. The draft seems to be heavy defensively.
Sauce Gardner (CB- Cincinnati). He could still be available with the pick. He's the prototype for what they want in a corner.
Several good Edge players in that range also. If Thibodeaux falls, I think he's the guy.

Sauce is the size Pete almost can't refuse, but if Thibs is there it's probably a no brainer.
It's not going to be pretty if we don't start focusing on the next tackle. We need a Center and two tackles right now and another year with Duane is still going to come back to him being 37.
Still like Daniel Faalele in round 2 for RT

random best case scenario
CB-Sauce at 9
QB- Trade 41 and a future pick for Corrall
RT- Daniel Faalele at 40 or 41
C- Tretter, resign Pocic on the cheap side, or Shepley
RB- Resign Penny draft at pick #72 or pick up a vet late in fa
DE- please make Chandler Jones a call
LB- KJ Wright
LT- Duane again on a 1 year or 1 plus non guaranteed
DE might be had in the Draft but only if it's Thibs or Travon at 9
LT might be #9

I think there's a good chance that Sauce will not be available when they pick. What are your thoughts on Stingley?
How would you rank the players?

Between those two? I would see it through Pete's eyes Gardners size > Stingley's injury (lisfranc tends to hamper bball players off and on for their career). Stingley hasn't been good since 2019... not sure i trust that a two year gap in play turning into a recent surgery to correct it.
Agree Sauce could very well be gone.
Do you prefer Stingley?

No. Sauce is the clear #1 CB in this class. But I don't see him falling to 9.
Stingley should be available.

After listening to a recent interview with Scot McCloughan. I think them trading back now is very likely. The meat of the draft according to him is day two. I could see them trading back into the teens & picking up an extra 2nd or 3rd. Assuming none of their guys fall to them.
He says the QB's are all day 2/3 guys in value. Which I would agree with. But teams still reach based on need. So QB is likely not an option at 9. If they bring in a veteran to go along with Lock. Then it might not be such a need for them. Which is probably the best outcome.
If the plan is to shift more to a traditional 3-4 as rumored. Then I could see them targeting a LB very early. It's a deep LB class.

I never doubt speculation that JS will trade back, but I would be tempted to grab someone at 9

well if that's not just smoke to try to make sure Willis is there at 9, trade back or LT/DE is looking quite possible.

Yeah I like all 4 top tackles and Pennington is clearly the meanest and has fantastic size and athleticism. I'm into it... looks like we are going to need bookend tackles at this rate.
