It was the right decision. You can't run a college offense & expect the results to be any different.

Fascinating read!!!
The Giants game is really when things started to unravel. Then both the Packers & Vikings games basically sealed his fate. Not the least bit surprising.

I don't think he's ever called plays. But...

Not a huge fan of this one. The Bears offense was a disaster this season. I'm hoping it's just a Rooney Rule compliance thing. You have to interview at least one or two minority candidates.

I like it.
Klint Kubiak has play calling experience & comes from the Shanahan tree. He worked under Shanahan in SF. He might be my favorite of the three names so far. But I'm also intrigued by Hank Fraley & his OL background. Two good names to start.

Both Kubiak & Udinski have worked with Sam Darnold. If they end up hiring either one, I wonder if they bring in Darnold as a Geno replacement. At least as a short-term filler. Since Darnold would know the offense.
If they release Geno, they will save more than $30m in cap space.
It's an interesting potential scenario at play.

I hate to say it, but my gut says he was selected partly due to the Rooney Rule. As a courtesy, you need two minority candidates (interviews) to comply with it. Any time you hire a Head Coach or Coordinator. Thomas Brown & Leftwich would obviously qualify.
Kubiak & Udinski are the only two names to have had a 2nd interview as far as we know.
Corbin also says that they like Hank Fraley (Lions OL coach) but that they can't bring him in for an in-person interview until the Lions are officially eliminated from the Playoffs.
Most of those in the media seem to think that Kubiak is the favorite. But it's also possible that they try to add someone like Udinski to the staff as a QB Coach/Pass game Coordinator.
Fwiw Leftwich doesn't really fit. His offenses have been very pass heavy in the past. Whereas both Kubiak & Udinski come from the Shanahan/McVay trees.

Well, Fraley is now available! That was a shocker.

base philosophy makes me want him for sure.... Kubes and some others might be more nuanced, but Hank seems the most ready to eat up TOP, but physical in the forward trenches and run game.

The only thing I worry about with Fraley is his inexperience as a playcaller. But otherwise he would definitely fit the vision of Mike & where this team wants to go. Being the bully.
If they hire Kubiak, it's because of his experience as a playcaller & the fact that the scheme itself is proven. It's the most popular around the league.
Udinski is a hotshot that may or may not be ready for the role. You're basically taking a big swing with him. But it could also be a swing & miss.
