Wow. He went from prized free agent to out of the league in the span of three years, thanks in part to injuries I would think. Was there just no interest in Grant?

NFL Network reports free agent DE Grant Wistrom plans to retire.
The 30-year-old former top-ten pick was released by the Seahawks after a disappointing three-year stay in the Emerald City. Though never truly dominant, Wistrom enjoyed double-digit sacks seasons for St. Louis in 2000 and 2001, and won a Super Bowl ring with the '99 Rams. In his prime, Wistrom was the quintessential "high-motor, lunch-pail" defender.

I think there was interest on both sides with the Rams...But I'm guessing he would have had trouble passing a physical.

I enjoyed watching Wistrom in his prime and I am legitimately sad that he is now gonna be out of the league. I truly hope all goes well in retirement for him.

Ding ding ding! Give that man a prize...

I never really understood why Seahawks fans hated Wistrom so much. He was always a complementary DE, not a primary pass rusher; it's not his fault the Hawks never put anybody on the other side to take pressure off him. He always gave a very strong effort and he improved against the run every year of his career. From what I've heard his back got so bad he couldn't even touch his knees last year.
