Rumor from the Nation's Cap

A local television station has been saying that the Skins and the Seahawks are nearing a deal, which would send Brunell to you guys for an undisclosed draft pick. If this happens, you better pray that Hasselbeck does not go down.

That makes very, very little sense. The Seahawks just extended Seneca Wallace and they have David Greene behind him. That is not happening.

For those not in the know, the Seahawks are not interested in acquiring Brunell to be the #2 QB, they're looking for a #3 QB who is solid enough to allow them to get Senneca Wallace some playing time at WR and on special teams.

So again, Wallace would still be our #2 QB--adding Brunell just frees the Seahawks up to risk playing Wallace at other positions without worrying about an injury.

I'm all for it. Greene looks lousy, and quite frankly, I'm not happy with Wallace. I went to the game last night and he frustrated the hell out of me. He waited too long to throw pases and he never looks off his damn receivers. He pulls out from center, looks at the guy he plans on throwing to, and stays locked on him until he makes a poor decision.

Brunell's no great shakes but I'd feel a little more comfortable if we have another option on the bench IF we need it.

Right now I'm more concerned about how we replace Tubbs...

9Sports, the CBS affiliate, that reported the rumor has retracted it. There are still rumors though that the Falcons, Seahawks, and now Jags are all interested in trading for Brunell. I was surprised too when they reported a trade was done because Gibbs and Brunell are Christian buddies. I guess after they saw Jordan Palmer play in the last preseason game, they squashed trade requests for Brunell.

Well, the 'Hawks have to have something in mind. They released David Greene, meaning they only have two QBs on the roster at the moment.

That's it. Tubbs is now on the "deactivated from my mind" list. He's officially snake-bitten.

How is Mebane (?) coming along? I haven't watched him closely. Is there potential starter material there eventually?

Everything was looking so up for our "D" heading into this season, and then the Tubbs news. Ugh.

Anything to the rumors they could sign Leftwich or Testaverde?

Testaverde? Oh God...there's no offensive line in the world that can protect that stiff.

Jeff George? Gino Torretta? Ryan Leaf?
