Strong's Career is over...Branch out 2 weeks.

KIRKLAND, Wash. -- Seattle's longtime fullback Mack Strong has a neck injury that will end his career.

Seahawks coach Mike Holmgren said Monday that Strong woke up Sunday feeling tingling in his hands. After getting hit hard twice early in Sunday's loss to Pittsburgh, Strong felt his hand and arm going numb, Holmgren said.

An examination determined he has a pinched nerve in his neck. It won't require surgery, but Strong told reporters at Seahawks headquarters here that it will end his career.

The two-time Pro Bowler turned 36 this month, and has spent 15 seasons with the Seahawks.

Holmgren also said wide receiver and former Super Bowl MVP Deion Branch will miss two games because of a foot sprain. He hopes to have Branch back for the Nov. 4 game at Cleveland after the Seahawks' bye week.

I didn't want to make 2 threads since the board doesn't get much traffic and both stories were in one small article..

Anyway I feel bad for Strong, but he has been great for us and played a long time. And with two teams with bad records coming up, how much will Branch being out really affect the Offense? When is hackett coming back?

Weaver. He's been getting a few carries here and there, a pass thrown his way from time to time. I haven't made up my mind yet whether or not to be at all excited about him. He may be the serviceable equivalent of Morris at halfback. I don't know yet.

Sucks to see a guy who sticks with one team as long as Mack did finally retire...

That kind of loyalty doesn't exist anymore, and the guy barely got any credit despite opening up holes for a decade and a half... good luck to Mack Strong

You figured this was his last year, but I was kind of hoping he'd get another chance to get back to the Super Bowl before he left.

What a complete stud of a football player.

I can't say it better. I hope Strong is a first ballot HOFer. I'm glad he was able to play for so long and still walk away after 15 years of beating the crap out of opposing LBs.
