Game 1: Seattle Seahawks vs. Buffalo Bills
Sunday, September 7th, 10:00am PST in Buffalo at Ralph Wilson Stadium.
Put your analyses here.
Wouldn't it be great to start the season off with a road victory? We always seem to have trouble with the early starting games on the road. LOL
1) Will our defense shine from the get-go and on the road?
2) Will our revamped running game pay early dividends for us, take pressure off our passing game?
3) Will Hasselbeck be able to make-do with our young and depleted receiving corp?
4) Will our offensive line look consistent and play like they know what they're doing?
5) Will we be able to make a first down on 3rd or 4th and inches to go LOL?
Such questions I pose to the faithful.
Go Seahawks!

How is the running game going to be split up?

If you're fishing for fantasy advice, nobody knows...
I'm a Seahawks fan, and I own Morris in a league. There wasn't much in the preseason to really give an indication either way.

I think so. Buffalo has a young QB, a good young RB, an offensive line with some question marks due to injuries/holdouts, and some young WR. Perfect opportunity for the Seahawks to show they can be stout against the run and fluster the QB.
Bulltalk wrote:2) Will our revamped running game pay early dividends for us, take pressure off our passing game?
Here's hoping. If the line holds up, I don't see why not. I'm a lot more concerned with...
Bulltalk wrote:3) Will Hasselbeck be able to make-do with our young and depleted receiving corp?
Hass has been out for the majority of camp and he's throwing to a bunch of near rookies. I'm not expecting much from the passing game, but we'll have to do something so they can't just stack the box and play the run. Perhaps a lot of short passes to establish some sort of rhythm? What about the center situation...does Spencer come in or is it Vallos? Will everyone be on the same page with a first year center, a vet QB, and a young WR when they haven't really played together much?
Bulltalk wrote:4) Will our offensive line look consistent and play like they know what they're doing?
Not as good as the Hutch years, but certainly better than the crap we've seen since.
Bulltalk wrote:5) Will we be able to make a first down on 3rd or 4th and inches to go LOL?
I'm certian we can. The line's better, we have RB who are better equipped for short yardage sets, and I like what we have a FB over what we had at times last year...Weaver should be improved and Schmitt's shown he's up to the task.

I'm gonna say no. I think they'll have moments, but we'll be gouged for long runs.
2) Will our revamped running game pay early dividends for us, take pressure off our passing game?
Yes to this one... I like our line, our philosophy, and trust our backs.
3) Will Hasselbeck be able to make-do with our young and depleted receiving corp?
Yeah, and somebody will become a go to guy out of the blue, but it wouldn't surprise me if it's not starter this week, but another guy like Kent.
4) Will our offensive line look consistent and play like they know what they're doing?
Good question, I'm gonna go yes. I think we'll be happy with Wahle leading the run with Walt
5) Will we be able to make a first down on 3rd or 4th and inches to go LOL?
Yeah, but not with TJ, prolly with Weaver or Jones.

I hate having to start the year on the east coast on the road. I'm a little up in the air on Hass he hasent had much game action so far, but he is a proven vet and should be ok. It will be a low scoring hard hitting game from start to finish, I would be all over this game as a gimme, but our run D has not looked good all pre-season. My prediction is Seattle 20 Bills 14 two long runs for the Bills! The Seattle offense looks good and controls the game with running the ball up and down the field.

Re: Game 1: Seattle Seahawks vs. Buffalo Bills
A lot of Bills fans are confident and are over looking this game. I'm not so sure. The Seahawks know how to win and that's what the Bills are learning how to do.
It'll be a close game and I'll give the edge to the Seahawks because the Bills haven't been able to win close games in recent memory.
The matchup that is scaring ever one in Orchard Park is Patrick Kerney going up against Keith Chambers.
Jason Peters has been steadfast in his hold out which has made Langston Walker switch to LT and Chambers the swing tackle to RT.
They've looked great in the Pre-Season but I'm still not certain.
Also I'll be looking forward to watching the trio of Peterson-Tatupa-Hill run around. Could be the best LB core in the league.
The Seahawks are limping into this game though with injuries to Engram and Branch and word came down that Rocky Bernard and Jason Babs are suspended for Game 1.
Should be an interesting game.

Good luck, Next Coming.
Fox is reporting that Branch is gonna play sunday. Hmmm mixed on this... if he rushes it: Bad. If he's rusty: rather have the youngsters.

Re: Game 1: Seattle Seahawks vs. Buffalo Bills
I just don't see how Branch could be anywhere near ready at this point. I completely agree with you Corvus. Zero sense in rushing him, and if he's rusty I'd rather go with the inexperience that shouldn't have a problem with timing and their routes. If he's to the point where he can play bring him back in when the Hawks are back at the friendly Qwest field.

I would love to see the hawks come out and make this a statement game saying that they are the team to beat this year. Please don't disappointed me!
This space needs to be filled with a new sig...but I'm too lazy to make one.

Today, Holmgren said Branch won't be playing. Which isn't shocking...I think they hold him out til after the bye week.

Re: Game 1: Seattle Seahawks vs. Buffalo Bills
I'm excited finally to see the offense at full-power going 100%. Run game will be the main thing to watch..look for a breakout game for either Courtney Taylor or Nate Burleson

Re: Game 1: Seattle Seahawks vs. Buffalo Bills
I'M STOKED FOR THIS GAME!
This would be such a big win for us, to win the first game on the road, in the eastern time zone, key players injured early in the season, the 2nd and 3rd games against division rivals AT HOME, and then the bye week. If we could win this one today, we have a good chance to go 3-0 and then get our injured players back.
GO SEAHAWKS!

First drive for the Hawks, three straight passes and out, this after revamping our running game this off season, and the injuries to our receivers. LOL

Re: Game 1: Seattle Seahawks vs. Buffalo Bills
Taylor looked like **** on the first drive...dropped a pass on first down, then wasn't paying attention on third down.
Two series offensively, and the Bills defensive line has had quick pressure in the backfield on all six plays. At this rate they'll stop the running game and kill Hass.
Thankfully our defense looks really good. Mebane's been consistently disruptive against the running game.
Nice hit!
STOP WITH THE CUTAWAY HIGHLIGHTS OF FAVRE...NO ONE GIVES A ****.

Re: Game 1: Seattle Seahawks vs. Buffalo Bills
The only good run they've had was a draw to J. Jones that went for maybe ten yards, and that ended up being brought back on a lousy hold call on Sims. They're just not run blocking well enough.
No one can catch the ball either...Taylor and Putzier have both had two drops.
Plack's having a bad punting game too.

That about as **** a punt coverage as I've ever seen...poor tackling, pointless diving. How does that happen?

Re: Game 1: Seattle Seahawks vs. Buffalo Bills
Jesus Christ, Burleson dropped a wide open touchdown...ball **** hit him in the face mask as he was looking at it.
EDIT: ...kinda redeemed himself on a very tough TD catch next play go. Hooray.
