RENTON -- The Seahawks doubled up on wide receivers Tuesday to replenish their short-handed passing game.

First, they made a trade with the Denver Broncos to acquire Keary Colbert. At 3 p.m., they will announce the re-signing of former first-round draft choice Koren Robinson. Each player is familiar with the West Coast offense, a necessity because the Seahawks have lost five receivers to injuries -- Nate Burleson, Ben Obomanu and Logan Payne, who are on injured reserve; and Bobby Engram and Deion Branch, who have yet to return from injuries.

Colbert, 26, played his first four seasons with the Carolina Panthers before signing with the Broncos in free agency. His best season game in 2004, when he caught 47 passes for a 16-yard average and five touchdowns as a rookie.

The Seahawks will give the Broncos a conditional draft choice in 2009, depending on how much playing time Colbert sees this season

Wow weirdest thing about getting Colbert to me is he's my cousin and I forgot he was in the league. Hahah. Sorry cuz, I guess it's your turn to get injured.

Seriously Robinson/ Colbert sound alot better than what we had.

At this point, playing wide receiver for the Seahawks is like being the drummer for Spinal Tap. I sure wouldn't want that job.

^^ haha see now we just need Koren to turn it up to 11.. .while other receivers only go to ten he goes to 11.

Apprently the pick is a fifth rounder, that gets bumped up to a fourth if Colbert meets certain incentives. Seems a little pricey...but it's better than wasting a 1st rounder on an overrated veteran.

In the Sonics Board fantasy basketball league, of which Sweezo was the commissioner, my team was called the Elevens, in honor of Spinal Tap. You're speaking my language, buddy.

Go figure...the 'Hawks waive Jason Babin to make room, and Coutu is still on the roster. Still on the **** roster. The kid looked nothing more than average in preseason...what's the point?

I think the only explanation of why Cotu is still on the roster is that he must be in their long term plans.

Yeah, but...

This is a team that cut Jordan Kent, a supremely talented yet still developing WR, because they claimed they needed to get experienced players on the roster do they could win now. Same with Forsett.

How can you cut those two and give that explanation while still hanging on to a rookie kicker? It makes no sense.

What kept the fricken kicker? Seriously do we think someone else will steal him if we cut him? If that's the case it's probably only because we've kept him despite all this nonsense which might artificially raise his value, but c'mon. While we do have a bunch of DE's this really irks me.

Ex- I think this means only one thing: when Coutu finally makes his debut he must come out of a large pod

One thing I don't get is Dehaven says Coutu has value b/c he can kick to kick returners in practice...or at least Frank Hughes implies as such. Really? Do they not think they could sneak Coutu onto the practice squad to attempt the same feat?

Right, like I said, the only reason I could think that he would get picked up on his way to the practice squad is because we've kept him so long we might have artificially raised his value.

Well at least Kent got signed back on to the practice squad. If we were winning and healthy it would not be a big deal.
