Re: Eric Bledsoe traded?
Sixers fan in peace here. Any chatter about keeping vs buying out Covington this season? I imagine PG13/Kawhi playing this season would be a factor.
2025-2026 Philadelphia 76ers:
Maxey/McCain/Lowry
Grimes/Edgecombe/Gordon
Oubre/Edwards
George/Watford/Walker
Embiid/Bona/Drummond/Broome

There would be absolutely zero reason to buy out RoCo unless he gave back 100% of what he's owed. And even then, his bird rights are more valuable.

Dragic is old, so still plenty of minutes for Reggie as combo guard backup.
Think Goran goes to a team where he can compete for a title, and unless both Kawhi and PG return, that won't be us.
I expect him to end up back in Miami now that he's eligible to return there this year. Def not Dallas anymore. Denver would also be interesting

RoCo wont be bought out. The team will use his bird rights in a S&T for a PG/C upgrade or re-sign him, if they can trade Marcus Morris for a PG/C upgrade.
Clips are going for maximum flexibility going forward in how they'l shape their roster.
Although who would the team would prefer starting PF going forward will be an interesting question.

You are the only Sixer fan who wants him back lol. He was hooted out of town.
Mostly about shot selection. He always seemed to step up---and put up the key brick--at the key time.

As a UFA I don't expect much demand for his services--this was a salary dump by the Blazers--they'd have bought him out but this saved them even more money under the lux tax.
But like Reggie Jackson, I think he can find his home here. He's 6'7", still an average-to-plus defender, and can stick the 3 when needed. If he makes a good impression, the Clippers might bring him back on the cheap [like Reggie] and he might say yes. But Ballmer doesn't need to save a lousy few million by cutting RoCo loose now. He tips his pool boy that much every Christmas.

Mr. Nash got his former student. Odd choice for him though with all the guards they have

I think If we only got RoCo in the trade it would still have been worth it, at the very least we are gonna try to bring him back.
I think RoCo is smoothly transitioning to his 'seasoned role player' career phase with us, like Batum has. If we want to save money we can trade Marcus in the offseason and re-sign RoCo as Marcus' offensive capabilities shouldn't be needed on a reasonably healthy squad.

I wasn't that high on RoCo immediately after the trade, thought he was in decline... but now I think he fills the JaMychal Green role maybe even better than JG

Yup, RoCo has averaged 30 mpg in his career. That's asking too much. Like Reggie, he's a marginal NBA starter but at 20-24 minutes he can be a key contributor. And well he knows it--after putting up his best per-36 minute figures of his career here, he jumped at the Clipper offer of 2/$24M.

The wiser vets know how they can best succeed not only in a team context but personally as well, we got a lot of wise vets. Hopefully they will rub off on John Wall, if so I think he’s gonna do just fine here.

Bledsoe was a great acquisition when the Clippers got him, such a trade friendly contract, and the wisdom to acquire him worked out with the Powell and Roco trade.
