The other team didn't decide how many minutes Reggie and Morris played. That was a choice by Lue, who once again chose favoritism and veterans over winning the game. With how clogged the West is this year, avoidable meltdowns like this could be the difference between a top 4 seed and the play-in.

Isn't one of the advantages of a deep roster supposed to be that you can bench guys who aren't performing because you have plenty of other good options? You'd never know it from how Lue coaches.

Ty's rotations, explained

plus/minus per 100 possessions

Kawhi +14.9
Luke +10.2
PG +7.0
Batum +6.0

Reggie -0.7
Morris -0.8

Mann -1.5
Wall -4.0
Zubac -5.2
Covington -6.7
Coffey -9.2

As we see, many nights we were without 1-3 of our top 4 guys, leaving Reggie as even the best or second-best player in uniform that night--and he's been playing hurt much of the year.

He's getting far more minutes than he even wants to play. Backup J-Wall has been far less effective and missed a lot of games, and that's left Reggie to take the load--Kawhi and Kennard are still playing themselves back into shape and more minutes.

And NEITHER one is a POINT GUARD. You don't want either one always bringing up the ball.

Yes, in an ideal world, Reggie should be the backup PG playing 20 mpg. But it's not HIS fault he has to cowboy up. It's to his credit. As usual, once you consider the alternatives, Reggie is the least of our problems.
