We need a CLOSER. He doesn't have to hit the winning shot, he just has to make it happen.

I don't follow other teams much but I think Mike Conley is the guy. In the end, PG and yes, even Kawhi are role players. They will follow Conley. They will hit the winning shot but he will make sure it happens.

This is why we dumped Lou for a totally baked Rondo. But Rondo was baked, and he was never a Conley in the first place. Rondo was a good point guard but he was never a leader. Kawhi and PG need a LEADER.

Kawhi is positively HATING life right now. He never wanted to work this hard in the regular season. 40+ minutes a game and the whole world on his back with a minute left? EVERY night?

[LeBron does it EVERY night at age 38 but let's let that pass for the moment...]

Clippers need a leader. Always have. The only leader we ever had--and that includes Lob City--was Sam I Am, who was 36 years old and only months away from the end of his career.

Why do you bring up Doc and then question why others hate on him? You are cherry picking a stat while ignoring the piss poor job of coaching Doc did series after series?

I will answer your question.

The KL/PG 4th quarter offense has blown numerous leads in the last few games. The same shtt happened 3 years ago and Doc was fired.

Now it's all Ty Lue's fault? Maybe it's not the coach's [coaches'] fault? Maybe the players are responsible? The same players who CHOKED 3 years ago.

This is YOUR comment, yes? You were the one that brought up CHOKING.

Except these "punks" could win. I'm hoping it's not another choke job.

Maybe the problem isn't the local scapegoat Reggie Jackson [who did not even play in crunchtime tonight] or even the coach, but the problem is the Big Two who eat up most of our salary cap?

Image

Maybe it's deja vu BIGTIME and the changes that have to be made are from the Big Two on down, not 5th- or 8th-men Reggie Jackson or playing Terance Mann 32 minutes a game instead of 26?

This is ON Kawhi and PG. This is THEIR team. They eat most of the salary. They control the ball. The rest of us are spectators. Half their team are spectators.

You were the one that brought up CHOKING. Fair enough. The ball's in your court. And theirs.

Yes, I brought up choking based on the loss against the Bucks. I was not questioning an individual player. You bring up up stats from that one game and waive it around like that is what let to the firing of doc.
Doc was fired for his cumulative performance as a coach and GM.
Tom, I was pointing out to the fact that you don't like when people bring up Doc but you seem to be the one clinging on to his ghost.

T-Mann looked legitimately in distress at the end there. Thank goodness we managed to snatch away the win and didn't let Norm's awesome jam go to waste.

At least consider the possibility.

We went all the way to the conference finals only to see Kawhi and PG get injured. Who knows what could have been otherwise? You think the FO isn't thinking what can be done to make this team better?
I would have gladly blamed Kawhi and PG had they played in mostly every game and had not been injured.
I would like to see a few changes made, but nothing major. Let's see what happens in the playoffs first.

I love how this argument was never applied to CP3 in the Lob City era even though it was just as true for him. His chokejobs were always Blake's fault, or injuries, or the refs, or bad luck, etc.

At least Kawhi and PG got us past the second round, something CP3 and Glenn could never do. Don't start switching up now.

Sadly Kawhi didn't even make it to the WCF, but he helped us get two of the four second round wins. PG wasn't injured in that series, the healthier Suns were just a better team in that matchup.

Basically, it happens....

Ty Lue went off on the reporter

This game tonight
George - 30 points , 9 rebounds , 5 assists
Leonard - 35 points ,
Powell - 24 points , 7 rebounds ,
Morris - 17 points

Kawhi also had 4 steals and 3 big ball tips to help secure offensive rebounds very end of 4th and OT for extra possessions. Also key in trapping Brunson and Randle on defense at the wing, to force them into turn overs or bad shots against the paint defense.

It's not a Manichaean dichotomy, that if someone is not perfect they therefore suck.

In the 4th quarter and OT of this game Leonard was getting triple teamed at certain points. I mean come on. They desperately need another ball-handler who isn't afraid to bring the ball up and set up the offense in the 4th quarter. Ugh.
