ALL-STAR BREAK THREAD: Next Game Friday February 24

Post#1 » by esqtvd » Sun Feb 19, 2023 1:48 am

https://www.latimes.com/sports/clippers/story/2023-02-17/los-angeles-clippers-roster-buyout-market-stretch-run

Their schedule resumes Feb. 24 against third-place Sacramento, followed by a visit Feb. 26 to first-place Denver — a game that doubles as a reunion with recently traded guard Reggie Jackson — and a home game against eighth-place Minnesota on Feb. 28. Then there are back-to-back road games March 2 against ninth-place Golden State and the following day in Sacramento. A five-game homestand begins March 5 against second-place Memphis.

In all, the remaining opponents hold the second-highest combined winning percentage (.523) in the league, according to Tankathon, which measures strength of schedule.

“It’s going to be playoff preseason basketball,” forward Nicolas Batum said Thursday. “That’s good, though. It will get us ready for our next goal, so I like that.”

Clippers = #4 seed despite numerous injuries and changes. SZN gets real on Friday.

I can't remember the last time I watched the ASG. Can't wait for the next game vs the Kings.

We should put Kawhi/westbrook on the Joker when he is at the top on the key and force them to fight through screens and switch with zubac/plumlee when he goes into the post.

Based on the All-Star game ratings, I think you are with the populace. The game is garbage. All the "draft" and "pre-game selection" is a desperate attempt to make people care. I don't remember the last time I even watched a partial game, let alone the full game. The ticket prices for the game are a big barrier. I could say the same about the NFL Pro Bowl and the MLB All-Star games too.

I do highly recommend anyone going to the city where these games take place to fully take in the fan experience though. I have done the NBA All Star fan activities multiple times and MLB once.

Highly skewed number because of the 3 games total against Den and Memphis. We have 21 games left, so there are 18 other games.

Of the 21 games, we have 13 at home. The combined Winning % of those opponents is 49.87%. However, those opponents have a combined road winning % of 39.57%. Only 2 of those opponents (SAC and Knicks) have a road winning % above 43%.

The Clips have the best road win % in the WC and have played more road games than everyone in the west. Anywhere from 2-5 more road games played than others.

Good numbers. Thanks. And I can't remember being this healthy this late in the season since...

Yeah this definitely adds some balance in terms of looking at the rest of our schedule. What I do see are a bunch of games against other ladder teams in our division, but with mostly adequate rest between games. I'd say at the end, we'll deserve whatever playoff seeding we end up with.

Getting into the top 4 is pretty important IMO if we want a realistic chance of 2nd round or further, if we're not good enough to finish in the top 4 then we're probably a 2nd round exit tops.

Call me crazy, but I think 4/5 is the worst place we can finish, provided, Denver holds onto #1.

Being 6th would be preferable, as we'd avoid a potential clash until the conference finals, hopefully, of which, they are eliminated.

Overall, rather be healthy and gelling instead of potential tanking to get a certain seed.

Kawhi
PG
Westbrook
Zu
Senior
Plumlee
Powell

Batum
Mann
Gordon
RoCo

I think the top 7 are locks for playoff PT and the bottom 4 will divvy up the rest--and Powell may slip into the bottom group.
