Brown is the oldest player in the draft, because of course he is. This front office is beyond parody.

Who!?
Seems to me Clippers are still letting the past dictate their business. Trying to pretend as if they did select Kobe Bryant. So, making up for that 1996 7th pick.
Who has the mocks for Brown? Cause I have to assume he was not on the boards, and Clippers were going for the unexpected here. Make critics say "Who!?" now, and surprise them later.
But it's not a surprise. Especially when Brown is another guard-ward. Wingstop continues.

Thought Brown would be there at 48, but don't mind it more I think about it. He's got a high motor, intelligent defender, and an improving jumper.

A quick look at draft grades, we got an A- (everyone seemed to get an A on that site), B-, a few C+ and a few C-… so really a C+ average which is bottom of the pack.

Not really. He's been moving up--he was more like a mid to high second consideration. It wasn’t that much of a reach.

The outlier is NBAdraft.net—every one else has him between the mid 30s and high 40s. I suspect the lower mocks are less recent. Brown appeared on mocks right after the beginning of the season, and has been steadily moving up throughout the year. I think the combine helped him too; there had been rumors he was more like 6’5”, but measured at 6’6.5” barefoot and 6’8” in shoes. He and Jarace Walker are almost mirror images, physically.
Code: Select all
Ht w/o shoes Weight Standing Reach Wingspan
Walker 6’6.5” 248.6 8’8.5” 7’2.5”
Brown 6’6.5” 252.2 8’10.5” 7’0.75”
The fact that he had legit size for the 4 moved him up a little more. He’s the type of guy who gets discovered late; even in college, he wasn’t the tallest or fastest. But he got better every year, has a great motor and instincts, and is smart player—pretty much all the commentary agrees on that.

why don't we reserve judgment until we at least see him play in the summer league or preseason

Hard to really say much when the guy hasn't done anything NBA related yet. Won't really get too hung up on age, I know as NBA fans we love age and potential, but if you're productive, you're productive.
The pick is reasonable, can't really make any proclamations about whether it was the best pick, or terrible, etc. This isn't picking Jerome Robinson in the lottery because Jerry West really liked him kinda situation.
We'll see how it goes.

Sure. We’ve been here before. Kabengele, Oturu, Diabate. We know what happened to them. Maybe Brown breaks the mold but history is why some of us have concerns.
Lots can change from here on out but as of now I don’t see him playing with this roster. Thankfully I like watching the Ontario team just as much.

You don't draft soon to be 24 years old player to play in a "development" league. If he's not in the rotation by the starting of the season even for 10 to 12 minutes, you know that Brown is not an nba player. I can say the same for Miller too tbh. These guys are not two-way players but B.boston was, diabate was, preston was and maybe they still are.. smh

maybe he will turn out to a bust like those other guys (although it’s still too early to tell with Diabate), but he’s an individual and deserves to be judged on his own merits or lack thereof. He’s looks good in the clips posted, although I’m a bit concerned about his athleticismKL2 wrote:Roscoe Sheed wrote:why don't we reserve judgment until we at least see him play in the summer league or preseason

Not one dunk in his highlights for a "big". that scares me.
