Re: SUMMER LEAGUE 2025: Begins FRI July 11
Kobe looked good and should see some minutes on the 2nd unit this season. Miller had a better 2nd half but the thing is he's not going to have the ball in his hands like that on the main team, at least not with us. On the main team he'll be stuck in a corner waiting for Harden, Kawhi, etc. to pass it out to him so he can shoot a three. He'll get a few one on one open court attempts here and there, but nothing like he gets in SL or in the G League where he racks up his points for a nice statline. He needs to have two separate games to survive in the league. One where he's the man like in SL and the G League and the other type of game where he's the role player that can knock down open shots. We got three open roster spots still so you never know, he could get resigned again especially if we don't get Beal.
Christie and Flowers looked good and have a future with the team. I could see them getting a few spot minutes on the 2nd unit from time to time, especially if an injury happens or Bogdan, DJJ, and Dunn are in shooting slumps and some losses occur. Yanic is a tank and showed some flashes of what he could be. Lost on offense at times but his rebounding and shot blocking are there. He has a good future imo. Kobe Sanders is good but not athletic and on the slower side of things. That lefty from Yale needs to sit. Game 2 tomorrow.

John Poulakidas was the reason this game was close. He missed so many wide open shots on our runs.

Don Tommy wrote:Yanic was awful! Watching him run down on offense, it just looked awkward. Getting back on D, it was like watching a different person, his entire stride was longer. His hands were never ready, he wasn't prepared for the lob pass thrown his way... I can't see him ever being ready for the pros.
I hope I'm wrong and it was just first game nerves but he looks like a G League lifer who eventually moves overseas. There were centers with better track records, but we went with the guy who was a combine favorite. We looked at what he did over a couple of days instead of his entire college season, and it showed tonight.
On the other hand, did Reed Shepard throw more than two passes before the 4th quarter? Every time he touched the ball he was launching it. 4th quarter the coaches tell him they want to see his playmaking, and suddenly he gets hurt?
What, sounds like we were watching two different games. Yes, Yanic is going to be rough on offense, but man this dude is going to be good. Got to give him a year plus to put it together. Can't just look at his point totals for right now. He's already built like Steven Adams. His defense and blocking ability is already there even though he needs to not bite on pump fakes, but he'll improve on that. I think he's going to be good in a year or so. You can't teach this right here. This is what we're looking for. The shot didn't go down, but 7 footers normally can't do this...

I was really rooting for Jordan Miller last season based largely on his stats than watching him play a lot. But on an NBA court, he always just looked slow to me. Slow enough that even with more experience, I wondered how he would ever be able to create, play make, etc. But we didn't see a whole lot of him last season either.

I had no idea Yanic was that massive. Dude is built like an absolute tank! And defensively, he has to the potential to lock the paint down with his size and ability.

PBJ is all over the place. Love his hustle and activity.
Flowers continues to impress.
Sanders is crafty. He really is slo-mo 2.0 and it’s a compliment.

Christie, PBJ, and Flowers were the most impressive.
Miller doing the little things but it won’t be enough to bump anyone ahead of him. It’s a shame. Hope he finds a new team.
Sanders with another solid showing.
Yanic not much chance to show anything. Did have a nice oop.
Holy crap. Sanders with one and adjusting in air oop.

Flowers is the one you keep investing. Unlike kobe&jordan he actually improved in year 2. This is not surprising bc at 19 years old this usually happens. Same for Cam Christie as well.
Jordan miller out Cam Christie in for wing project
Kobe brown out Flowers in for PF project.
It wouldn't suprise me if they convert his two-way to a standart nba deal to lock him longer cost controlled deal. Because I believe after 2nd year of a two-way deal, that player becomes restricted free agent, other teams can lure him.

Flowers actually wants to be a point guard. That's why he left Louisville and went to play in Australia. Not saying the team will let him play point but he's not a power forward even at 6'9". I agree with giving him a real NBA contract right now and locking him in for the future. His stellar defending hasn't been mentioned yet either. He could become elite if he keeps working hard and gets playing time in the G League and with the main team.
Hot take: No need for Beal, Cam Christie has next. Throw him in the fire, f*ck it!
PBJ could fill it at the PF spot even though he's not a defender. Kobe Sanders is showing promise as well. Yanic wasn't that good last night, but in his defense he's not playing with any point guards that can run some pick n roll nor throw him an occasional lob. I still like Miller, but like I said in a previous post, he needs a different game for the main squad as opposed to SL and the G League where he gets to have the ball in his hands all the time. But in all its great to finally have a nice core of young guys to work with. Christie, Flowers, and PBJ are definitely at the top of the list. Another game tonight against the Lakers. This team is fun to watch!

Yanic dunking everything. Finally getting him the ball. That taking the ball up the court is nasty work. Still a work in progress on that side but you can see what he’s capable of when it comes together.

Re: SUMMER LEAGUE 2025: Begins FRI July 11
My guess is that coaches told Yanic something like “Slow down!” in game 2. Which is what you shouldn’t do with a player like Yanic. Yes, he needs to learn to let the game come to him. But he’s an impact player we can develop. You don’t build those guys by telling them to rein it in. So they basically said, “You can make an offensive push!” in game 3, and he did. I like the scoring and reduction in fouls. Didn’t like the turnovers. He’s shown different abilities at different times in each game. When he dribbled in and got that dunk last night … there are few if any NBA players that could have done a damn thing about that. I still think he’s a good to very good prospect for where he was drafted.
OTOH … I feel like I’m hating on Jordan Miller, especially after he had his best summer league game, and I’m really not. But he’s a guy that looks (much) better when he gets free rein in the summer league. I still think he’s one of those guys that tops out as an elite summer league player, and a 13th -15th man on a good not great NBA team. Maybe I’m totally wrong. Maybe we’ll keep him.
Cam Christie is playing very, very well. He’s done what he needed to; develop his game from his rookie season to now. He’s going to make the roster, and I think he’ll get some (not a lot, but some) meaningful minutes. He still not 20 yet. Between him and Yanic, we’ve actually got real, developmental players that are young.

3 games in 4 nights and it showed. Glad they finally made an effort to get Yanic the ball. He's going to be special in a year or two. Flowers defense and hustle is insane. We still got the win. 3-0

Clippers having one center on their roster for summer shows how dumb they are. Its the Ty Lue effect. Small ball in short spurts is ok, but its dead.

— 22.0 PPG
— 7.8 RPG
— 2.6 APG
— 1.2 SPG
— 53/39/88%
Great stats but he was 25 [26 in January] playing against 20 year olds. He remains a UFA--anyone can sign him but so far, THE WHOLE LEAGUE HAS PASSED ON HIM.
