I don't think anyone needs to feel bad for Corey.
Corey didn't opt out for money, he opted out to try to find a better fit- somewhere he could be the starter and play starter's minutes. He's going to get paid no matter what- whether it's $6 million a year or $8 or $9 million a year. His market value is not higher than that, so we're not talking about a big drop-off here if he ends up with an MLE.
Boston is offering him the MLE, that's a nice worst case scenario for him. He doesn't start but can contribute to a championship contender.
I think Orlando is a very possible destination. MLE is less than ideal, but he can start (at SG I guess) on a good, young playoff team. If they were able to offer a little more, then it would already be a done deal IMO.
