The "win now" mode for the Clippers applies a lot more in resigning Elton Brand to a long term extension, I don't think it applies equally to Artest. There were rumors of a Maggette/Artest swap at one point, but Dunleavy was offering up Maggette all over the league in an attempt to get rid of him.

Dunleavy is the type of coach that is going to have enough trouble coaching Baron Davis, I don't think he or Baylor would want to add Artest into mix. It is unlikely to happen, particularly if it costs Al Thornton to get him.

Wow, I sure hope not.
Or if it does, I hope no one in a position of responsibility takes it the least bit seriously.
And I hope it dies a natural death withouut ever going anywhere.
I really love Thornton on this team. He is just too good and getting better, and is young with a great future, and is going to contribute so much to the team now and for years --- to let this speculated trade happen.
And Artest is too emotionally damaged and too impulsive to be reliable.
Puh-leez let this be a figment of someone's imagination and nothing more.

This trade could very well be the deal sealer for Brand, in which case, I really do not see how you guys can turn it down.

I'm not saying it is, but suppose this deal was on the table, and it was the deciding factor of Brand resigning or going else where for more money, what would you guys say?

Therefore, ultimately
Artest, Brand for Thomas, Thornton

Fortunately --- and not to take any pleasure away from your imaginings --- in reality, this is not even remotely the case.

I'd hate for the team to give up on Thornton. I believe that Ron would definitely be a great addition in the short run, but how long would that last before he decided to do something crazy? Although the benefits could be great for the team, I don't know if I would want to take that risk.
